I led product development to help the voices of displaced people turn into improvement in their service delivery from humanitarian service providers. This involved setting and achieving the roll-out of milestones for new and improving capabilities, co-ordinating:
- a team of developers building for web, mobile, WhatsApp and facebook on the tech side and 
- roll-out to in-country technical leads working in locations across East Africa and Latin America provisioning devices and training on the ground teams.
- understanding usage patterns across incredibly diverse customer segments (including extremes of wealth and poverty) to inform product development to serve the displaced person, customer #1.

Lean Iterator

The Lean Iterator is a validation process to help entrepreneurs go from idea to product to business. Using Customer Development and Lean Startup principles and tools the process helps founders work through iterations of shipping the value proposition to real customers - allowing them to learn their way to great businesses. 

We've run 60+ entrepreneurs through the program via workshops, accelerators and an incubator. Some of the partners that we've worked with include: Standard Bank innovation, Allan Grey Orbis Foundation, UCT Graduate School of Business and Ideo.org.

DroneClouds

Drone-clouds was a startup using drones, satellites, cloud computing and crop experts to help farmers find crop issues, sooner.

I led the business from concept, sketching the initial business model canvas, through customer validation with early contracts, to winning the Airbus Defense and Space and South African National Space Agency innovative use of space data competition, to entering the Agroinnovation Lab where ultimately we ended up closing the business.

We then closed the business as the initial positive results on drones proved not to be repeatable, the value for farmers didn't justify the financial costs or operational complexities of the offering, and we could not find a future vision that met the needs and capabilities of both founders and the market.
