- Implementation of 'Linear Discriminant Analysis' in R for an web based marketing analytics company. This uses masters' level statistics to group questionnaire respondents according to their answers to a list of questions/stimuli and is often used in political campaigning, market research etc.

Systematic Equity Systems.
•	Own venture with IT-professional partner.  Working to develop Systematic Equity trading system.  Original plan was to reach out to clients, possibly via newsletter discussing regular results, stock-selection ideas and so-on, probably to smaller hedge-fund clients who don't have access to these sorts of systems.  Had been negotiating funding with high-profile interested party to build a commercial system, but process was dragging on.

•	Trial-run of concept. Initially Perl/Oracle XE and R for stats and analysis.

•	Based on combinations and adaptations of Sloan’s accruals/earnings persistence, Greenblatt/Graham’s ‘magic formula’, Haugen, Lakonishok, Piotroski, Altman Z-score, Ben Graham's net-net working capital liquidation value, Tobin's Q, and many others.

•	Originally data for ~50,000 global companies was fed into database and processed.  Culminated in IBES global data trial.

Vulcan Investments/Satif Capital

Investment consultant to Satif Capital and Vulcan investments.
Consulting with two very senior industry professionals with the intention of launching one or more investment funds together.  The work involved Investment research: meetings with senior management, models and analysis, and also some business consulting work on an Italian biotech, marina, smart meter, and a corporate access startup  which involved writing business plans, investment teasers, and helping with capital raisings in the private equity space.

•	Working with former senior investment banker, to acquire significant, high-conviction stakes in a listed smaller companies.

•	 Evaluating investment opportunities.  Building models, conducting interviews with company managements, industry operators, and liaising with other investors in the space. 

•	 Assisted in designing business plan, financial model, and equity capital raisings for Biotech company and corporate access start-up.

Consultant to The Onion Group of IFAs.
•	Ongoing advice on market outlook and asset allocation issues for certain HNW clients.

Misc. other projects.
•	Consulting to Prashant Bhayani, former Corkstreet CIO, on investment ideas to help raise new capital.

•	Consulting to Paul Steers, CIO Sanctuary Group.  Helped with pitch-book to raise capital, attended some pitch meetings as quant analyst.

Cork Street Capital Advisors

•	Demonstrable track record of risk-adjusted value-creation for ~$100m AUM startup with Prashant Bhayani and Casper Lund investing in a long-term, mature, heavily research-driven style.

•	Generalist with sector expertise in Tobacco (European + US names), Beverages, Luxury goods, Med-tech, oil services and others. Responsible for generating alpha within coverage, advising tactically on entry/exit of positions. Complemented my fundamental research with VBA-based systems, enabling study of evolution of valuation parameters for peers in real-time, short-interest evolutions from prime-broker files, HOLT etc. 

•	Self-starter with passion for investment, used to working in entrepreneurial environment. Maintain good relationship-network with CFOs/IR/Sell-side analysts.

Senior investment analyst

JO Hambro Capital Management

•	Worked on 3 funds (total $500m+ AUM) including Eurohedge top-10 fund Trident European, at very successful boutique which was founded to attract and reward unappreciated top fund-managers.

•	 Sole analyst in team of two helping to manage EUR 300m Trident European fund with Basil Postan (PM with 35+ years of city experience at top institutions).  Style was private equity-style 'pre-event' value investing in small and mid-cap listed companies with holding periods of up to 3years+.  Research was very Ben-graham/securities analysis inspired with a focus on cash-flow generation and exits were often M&A (usually private equity or an industry buyer).  

•	Assisted Willem Vinke launch Beaufort European long/short and the successful long-only European Select Value fund.  Research was mainstream company and industry analysis, finding unappreciated situations and opportunities in mid and large-cap european companies.

•	I was based in the Financial Institutions Group where I helped on deals involving M&A and financing of asset managers, insurance companies, and other financial businesses.
