My name is Carlo, but everybody calls me Carlos 🤷🏻‍♂️. My surname has nothing to do with selling things 🙂: it’s just an italian ancient pointless word. I got my first home computer in the eighties, and I fell in love. My career started more than 20 years ago, and since then I’ve worked with C, JavaScript, Java, PHP (psss! don’t tell anybody !), SQL and… Perl ! My father was a philosophy and history teacher, my mother and my beloved uncle taught Italian at schools. I guess it’s in my DNA if I love teaching and helping others. At the end of the day, I feel satisfied if I’ve been able to solve a colleague’s problem (Developer, Project manager, UX Designer, it doesn’t matter: aren’t we in the same boat ?) When at work, I like to spend the TYC (Thank You Coin). I spend it much when someone helps me, and I like to be paid as well if I deserve it. I don’t listen to music to concentrate. Because I love music, and my brain gets completely absorbed by the rhythm and the harmony of the song. Did I tell you I’ve been a drummer in a band for years ? I like paintings, architecture, and visual arts in general. That’s why I often preferred the front-end stack in my career. To me, software engineering is about: - Solving problems and developing interesting features (where “interesting” is about the user, not the developer). It doesn’t matter what language or fancy framework you use: the fundamentals are (and will be) already the same. - Communication: the code is not mine. It’s property of the developers that will handle it after me. So it has to be understandable. This translates in time (thus money) saved for the company I’m working with.
