Project Manager - Insurance Client Servicing & Change

Project Manager within Change Management, Group Technology.  Supporting the Investments Vector within the ESG Programme to manage the technical development of a suite of analytical tools covering Climate Scenario Analysis and Carbon Footprinting.

Our climate scenario and analytics platform was shortlisted in the ‘ESG research innovation of the year’ category at the 2022 Principles for Responsible Investment Awards.

Key responsibilities included:

Project management in line with stated objectives, goals, scope, timelines and budget to agreed quality standards;

Reporting progress via status reports, managing RAID and tracking resource expenditure;

Plan, lead and monitor day to day activities of project team across multiple offices. This included working with Business Analysts, Design/Data Analysts, Architects, Testers, Scrum Leads and Business Intelligence Developers;

Covering Technical PM Delivery role in tandem with PM role, initially leading scrums and managing scrum boards on Azure Dev Ops during project set-up.

High level of Stakeholder Management with Front Office, Programme Staff, Senior Leadership Team, External Vendors and Operational Teams.

I am one half of pop music duo ‘The Eves’ with Marissa Keltie.  Our music style is uplifting, melodic pop.

Self-penned 'Brand New Day' spent 5 weeks on BBC Radio 2's playlist.  It reached No. 6 and No. 15 in the iTunes pop charts and main download chart.

Notable past performances include opening for pop icons Belinda Carlisle and Sister Sledge, a live session on BBC Scotland's 'The Quay Sessions', touring with Skerryvore, Horse, opening for The Shires and performing at The Guinness Six Nations at BT Murrayfield Stadium, The Forth Awards, TRNSMT Festival and Country to Country.

We are self-funded and independent, performing all activities in-house including:

 - Writing, performing, co-producing and co-mixing our music with producers, mix engineers and mastering companies.  

- Work with National and Regional radio pluggers to promote our music in the UK and overseas.

 - Managing online PR and marketing content;  providing digital assets to distributors and media for music releases.  This includes managing and creating all content for our website, release artwork and social media using apps and platforms such as Wix, Squarespace, Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, SoundCloud, Spotify & Apple Music for Artists.

 - Communication and Media.  Liaising with journalists, podcasters, TV and radio to promote our music via live, online and written interviews.

 - Collaborating with Photographers, Stylists, Make-Up Artists & Videographers to create storyboards and generate concepts for creative content.

Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service

Project Manager within the Change & Digital Innovation department.  I worked on developing digital court hearing capabilities for Sheriff Court Summary Trials during the Covid-19 Pandemic, focusing on domestic abuse cases.

Responsibilities included provision of status reports and project updates to the Criminal Justice Board as part of the Justice System's ‘Recover, Renew, Transform’ Programme of work, including providing project updates for the Cabinet Secretary for Justice.

Project stakeholders included the Scottish Government, Crown Office, Police Scotland, SCTS Operational staff, Victim Support Organisations, Scottish Legal Aid, The Scottish Prison Service, The Law Society of Scotland, Judiciary staff and the Lord President.

I used a blend of Waterfall/Agile project management methodologies via JIRA and Confluence.

Standard Life Aberdeen

Responsible for the delivery of multiple projects within the Legal, Regulatory & Corporate Services ITS Change Portfolio during the merger between heritage companies Standard Life Investments and Aberdeen Asset Management.

Project highlights include:

MiFID II Best Execution - management of a multi work-stream, £1m+ EU Regulatory project reporting into the wider MiFID II Programme. This entailed working closely with Front Office management, traders and consultants from PwC to successfully deliver a compliant Order Execution Policy, implementation of Strategic Architecture to support Top 5 Annual Reporting for each asset class with wider Counterparty MI Reporting capabilities, and onboard a Fixed Income TCA (Transaction Cost Analysis) tool by external vendor Tradeweb. This was delivered on time and under-budget, working across SLI, AAM and Wealth parts of the business.

Making Tax Digital For VAT - I managed the procurement, training and on-boarding of an external tool by PwC to be used by SLA Group Tax to satisfy HMRC mandatory requirements for digital VAT submissions and digital record keeping.  This was delivered on time and under-budget.

Key responsibilities included:

Accountability for creation of Business Cases and Project Proposals for submission to approval boards;

Project management in line with stated objectives, goals, scope, on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards;

Reporting progress via status reports, managing RAID and tracking expenditure;

Plan, lead and monitor day to day activities of project teams across multiple offices. This included Business Analysts, System Testers, IT Platform Teams and Developers;

Senior Project Manager

HSBC

Working within Client Business & Change, Funds Implementation on Life and Pension fund migration projects. Key responsibilities included:

Documenting terms of reference, project scope, Model Office test planning and migration implementation schedules to transfer a bespoke range of 100 funds on legacy ICON and manual processes over to current ICON general ledger platform;

High level of stakeholder management - Client liaison, organisation and facilitation of joint workshops through all phases of migration;

Facilitation of fund and bank account restructure, including fund rationalisation/closure, between Client and Operational teams;

Providing project status reports and RAID updates to PMO and Programme Director;

Managing a team of 3 BAs to prepare operational models, static data matrix, data analysis, process improvement analysis, and identifying standard strategic architecture to minimise/eliminate EUC's;

Working across 3 sites in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. This included taking on the Operational Readiness role for several migration tranches, working with the Client and key HSBC stakeholders to faciliate model office and live migration activities, including achieving required green days via parallel run reconciliation process.

Responsible for documenting OEIC business requirements for implementation of NAV Validation tool, pControl.

Project Manager for State Street UK working on a large scale global Information Technology and Operational Transformation programme. 

Monitoring several workstreams, I was also acting Programme Manager for UK in tandem with project manager duties prior to taking a sabbatical.

I successfully managed a general ledger chart of accounts re-engineering project. Other key responsibilities included:

Managing UAT testing for high profile general ledger migration programme for a major client;

Providing SME business analyst and testing support for Livewire general ledger reporting system for all phases of general ledger migration programme including SQA, BAT, JBAT and Live Parallel runs;

Trained staff across global locations – USA and London, on new general ledger reporting system.

I have established an extensive Portfolio career spanning Financial Services and the Creative Industries with 23+ years experience in each.

As a project manager in Financial Services I have successfully delivered high profile Change projects across IT, Corporate, Regulatory, Investments, Tax & Operational teams, spanning Global offices within required budgets and timelines.  

In the Creative Industries I'm an established Songwriter, Performer and Podcast Presenter. I achieved a U.K. No.1 single in the UK Official Charts Company Vinyl Singles Charts in 2016 with my self-funded and self-managed EP 'Electric Waterfalls'. I’m also one half of pop music duo The Eves.  Highlights include being play-listed by BBC Radio 2, having our music played on The Kardashians on Disney Plus and Hulu, performing at TRNSMT festival, BBC Quay Sessions and opening for Belinda Carlisle and Sister Sledge.

I’m a people person - skilled at listening to others, encouraging teamwork, adapting and providing guidance when required. I naturally fit into leadership/project management roles; identifying and co-ordinating key people, stakeholders and skill-sets to make projects a success.
