As experts in business, FSB offers members a wide range of vital business services including advice, financial expertise, support and a powerful voice in government. Our aim is to help smaller businesses achieve their ambitions. 

Development Manager for the Federation of Small Businesses in the North East of Scotland region, representing 6,000 self-employed and business owners across all sectors across Perth & Kinross, Dundee, Angus, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray.

Responsible for protecting and promoting the interests of small businesses across the region. Media spokesperson and member point of contact for the FSB in the North East of Scotland. Job includes lobbying politicians on behalf of small businesses, dealing with the media, representing the FSB as a stakeholder at various groups and events and supporting FSB volunteers with their local events.

Activities include: management of the Tayside loan fund; managing the duties of a team of aftercare advisers; liaising with local economic development agencies and external providers of business development support; development of business plans, financial projections and funding applications; development and implementation of a local marketing plan; vetting of all PSYBT applications.

Self employed business adviser, providing business advice and counselling to pre-start and estalished female entrepreneurs.

Projected managed the development of the "Access to Finance" pilot, specifically looking at angel / equity finance needs of female entrepreneurs and identified possible options to address these.

Glasgow Opportunities

Provided marketing assistance and support to a wide range of SMEs. 

 Specific activities included:

	Identifying and analysing marketing requirements within client companies, undertaking marketing diagnostics and assisting with the development of marketing plans;
	
	Providing project management assistance with the implementation of marketing recommendations and assisting client companies to develop appropriate evaluation procedures;
	
	Project managing GO’s Marketing and Sales Support Fund within the city centre and west end of Glasgow.

Managed  a personal caseload of target companies.

Specific activities included:

        Project managing and directly assisting companies to achieve agreed objectives such as the development of business plans,

        Improvement of financial controls and establishment of appropriate evaluation systems;

        Liaising with external providers of business development support and other organisations within the enterprise network.    

Additional duties: developed a one-day training programme for bank staff on the enterprise network and the challenges faced by SMEs.   Over 200 delegates attended the programme in Glasgow and Aberdeen.
