Let’s face it. It is not easy being an attorney today. As a long-time practicing attorney, I have experienced the pressures we face such as: -billable hours, -dealing with difficult clients and adversaries, -endless working hours, etc. All of this puts an incredible mental and physical strain on us. When I practice immigration law, I worked what felt like 24/7. I took “work-cations”. My family wasn’t getting good quality time with me. My health was going downhill. After many years of struggling, something had to give. So I decided to find a coach who “got me” and helped me get past burnout. With the help of a coach, I designed a future that included a flexible work schedule and working in an area of law I enjoyed while also providing a steady income. I now work in an area of law which I absolutely enjoy. Working with a coach helped make my decisions SO MUCH easier and expedited my transformation. Realizing the power of coaching and how MANY attorneys have similar struggles, I became a certified empowerment coach for attorneys. We as attorneys hold ourselves to a MUCH HIGHER standard. We feel the need to be perfect in our writing and in court. We don’t believe the emotional and financial needs of our clients should affect us… but it does. We work ourselves to the bone to prove our self-worth to those around us while sacrificing important family milestones. Meanwhile, our lives are crumbling around us. We don’t even recognize ourselves anymore or remember why we became attorneys to begin with.
