As the former Deputy Chief of Staff for the Department of Children and Family Services for the State of Illinois, I was responsible for overseeing some of the largest programs in the state including: • Family First • Prison Visitation Project • Community Based Organization Project During my tenure as an Executive with the State, I organized and led a team that substantially reduced the time from Termination of Parental Rights (TPR) to Guardianship or Adoption from 558 days to 126 days, which lessened trauma to thousands of children and increased permanency into a loving and supportive home. Prior to my work with the State of Illinois, I was a highly accomplished community organizer. As the Community Outreach Worker for the Better Boys Foundation, I raised significant funding for professional development programs for teens in one of Chicago's most underserved and dangerous neighborhoods. I also developed a job and career readiness curriculum which provided practical life skills and career direction for over 5,000 young people growing up with limited resources and opportunities.
