When I first joined the Atlassian ecosystem, I’ll be honest,  the first year was tough.

I was trying to learn as much as possible:  exploring the Community, reading endless threads, following every lead, trying and testing. 

But the more I did, the more lost I felt.

There’s a ton of information out there, but not always verified, and it’s hard to know which answers are truly right.

Of course, Atlassian University is a great place to start,  especially if you’re preparing for certifications.

But certifications teach you the features, not how to actually use Jira to solve real problems in real teams.

They don’t show you the “what ifs,” the messy scenarios, or how to tailor Jira to fit your organization’s reality.

That’s exactly why I’m excited about this.👇

Just got the photos from the community dinner in Barcelona - definitely one of the best perks of being an Atlassian Champion.

Great people → great conversations → amazing vibe.

Moments like this remind me how good it feels to genuinely love what you do. Not everyone gets to experience that or even believes it’s possible.

I think I found my new favorite theory yesterday.

While working on the new GRYD.IO website, I came across the “Jobs To Be Done” framework.

At first, I expected a few insights for marketing or content.
Instead, I found something much bigger.

Clay Christensen said people don’t buy products; they hire them to do a job.

And this is exactly what I see every day with Jira users.
On the surface, customers come to us to “set up Jira” or “fix their processes.”

But underneath, the jobs they actually want Jira to perform are far more specific:
“Help us remove chaos between teams.”
“Give us a workflow that’s actually usable.”
“Show us where work gets stuck before it becomes a fire.”
“Automate the repetitive things everyone hates doing.”
“Create one clear, shared reality — not 11 Excel versions.”

So the real question isn’t:
->  “How do we configure Jira?”
It’s:
->  “What job do we need Jira to perform for our business?”

When that job is clear → Jira becomes a strategic asset.
When it’s not → Jira becomes a place where tasks go to die.

And the same logic applies to websites, and to pretty much everything in marketing.

Websites aren’t built to look pretty.
They’re built to do a job: attract the right people, guide them through a decision,
build trust, and so on...

Once you know the job → you know what to build.
If you don’t → you’re guessing and hoping it works.

Because you’re not creating “assets.”
You’re creating systems hired to deliver an outcome.

And if that outcome isn’t defined, you end up with:
👎 tools no one uses,
👎 processes no one follows,
👎 strategies no one understands,
👎 and websites that look good but don’t work.

JTBD is my missing starting point.

So now, before building anything, I start with a question: “What job is this supposed to do?”
