CSS (Coaching Students to Success) Program

CSS Program (Coaching Students to Success Program) is an original, pioneer, evidence-based 
psychological coaching program designed to train students in the transversal skills for achieving success, benefiting them in their personal, academic and professional lives. 

Our main goal consists in optimizing each student’s potential, exploring their dreams in terms of their life project, their interests and talents, and the skills necessary to achieve their goals. 

In pursuit of our aspiration to change the world through developing individuals’ potential to its maximum, the program was carefully built and tailored during 4 years of research and development, adapting different approaches from Psychology, Psychotherapy and Neuroscience, into a new evidence-based methodology in training skills for the sustained achievement of success. 

CSS consists of 25 sessions distributed across the school calendar, through weekly sessions, in small groups of 6 students, and is divided in 6 specific goals: emotional intelligence, self-esteem, empowerment, resilience, wellbeing, and achievement.

We prepare  individuals for a wide range of challenging and decisive situations: from assertiveness to critical thinking, from problem-solving to decision making, from school exams to college entrance, from thriving in professional life to coping with life events.

CSS Program is being implemented at International High Schools, and is now evolving to University and Organizational settings.

The main goal of this Curricular Unit is to foster students' familiarity with the fundamentals of Strategy and Innovation, enabling a comprehensive understanding of a set of factors, variables and processes that play an important role in the development of a strategic vision over how new ideas emerge and become transformed into innovative projects and businesses.
  
Throughout this CU, students are expected to acquire the foundational tenets which will enable them a continuous and autonomous learning process in the future.

The learning outcomes are:
•	Understand Psychology's unique relevance and contribution for the area of innovation, both strictly within  specific fields of psychological intervention, but also in collaboration with other professional fields (Economics, Business, Medicine, Marketing, ...) .
•	Recognize the different aspects and specific types of mindset and behaviours that influence the emergence of Innovation 
•	Transfer adquired know-how to new contexts and situations.

Subject of Health Psychology.

Lessons entitled: 

- Advanced Progressive Disease and Palliative Care (5hrs), focusing on themes such as: coping with an advanced progressive disease; dimensions of suffering, challenges to psychologists in end-of-life care, psychotherapeutic interventions (e.g. Dignity Psychotherapy; Psycho-emocional ajustment to poor prognosis) among other related topics.

Invited Lecturer - Master's Level in Clinical and Health Psychology - Portuguese Catholic University

Subject of Health and Human Development.

Lesson entitled: 

- Health & Life-threatning diseases (3hrs). 
In this lesson various themes were discussed such as: health, mental health, quality of life, body-mind integration and the Biopsychosocial Model; Life-threatning diseases (particularly cancer) and its impact on quality of life; the importance of personal significance in coping with a life-threatning disease; impact and coping with a terminal cancer & role of psychologists along the progression of the disease; among other related themes

This subject of the Master Degree in Psychology (CAIP - Competências Avançadas de Intervenção Psicológica) addresses several key skills essential not only for psychological intervention, but also for interviewing, facilitating change and problem-solving across different contexts.

Poster Presentation: "Psycho-emotional Impact and Coping Strategies During the Caregiving Experience

O luto constitui-se como um processo complexo e multidimensional. O carácter paradoxal das perdas, por um lado comuns na sua inevitabilidade, por outro lado únicas no significado que podem representar, fazem do luto um tema pertinente para análise e reflexão. A idiossincrasia inerente à forma como o processo de adaptação a uma perda ocorre em cada indivíduo, coloca psicólogos e outros profissionais de saúde perante um complexo desafio. Sendo um tema transversal à vivência de todos, constitui-se como uma área de intervenção que requer conhecimento especializado.  

Este workshop tem como objectivo familiarizar os participantes com a especificidade do processo de luto, aproximando-os de diferentes modelos de intervenção, avaliando e reflectindo sobre as implicações que cada modelo, através da forma como conceptualiza o luto, pode ter na prática clínica.

His passion for solving problems, continuous learning, and disruption through innovation make him a goal-oriented and solution-focused person and professional.
