• Developed a convolutional neural network with Pytorch to classify Mars surface images.
• Tuned hyperparameters to optimize model performance metrics.
• Created a PyTorch dataset class that reads data from a CSV file and loads the corresponding image and bounding box coordinates.
• Defined data transformations to augment the training data with horizontal flips and convert PIL images to PyTorch tensors.
• Trained a Faster R-CNN object detection model pre-trained on COCO using the PyTorch library.
• Modified the Faster R-CNN model by replacing the pre-trained head with a new one that predicts classes for the specific task of crater detection.
• Split the dataset into training and testing subsets and created PyTorch dataloaders for each subset with options for batch size and number of workers.
• Constructed an optimizer (SGD) and learning rate scheduler (StepLR) for training the model over multiple epochs.

• Developed an R package for use in functional regression analysis
• Determined that covariate C6 (stay at home requirements imposed by the U.S. government) had a significant effect on the number of confirmed Covid cases during the time interval of August 2020 - March 2021
• Handled preprocessing of Covid-19 time series data and used the R package to investigate the correlation between government policies and Covid-19 cases/deaths
• Conducted research on the factors contributing to the growth or decay of Covid-19 cases and deaths within the United States, using Covid-19 data from 51 states over two years.
• Proposed a novel test statistic to determine the significance of covariates over time in a concurrent functional model.
• Used bootstrapping to gain insight into the distribution of the test statistic and generate p-values.
• Created a method of variable selection based on the results of the hypothesis tests.
• Constructed and organized a United States Covid-19 dataset using R.
• Addressed data inconsistencies in the dataset, such as filling in blanks with "0" where appropriate and adjusting cumulative data format.
• Demonstrated the ability to draw conclusions about the relationship between variables that change over time.
• Built R functions to conduct hypothesis test and variable selection using functional regression models 
• Developed an R package called TimeVarConcurrentModel for analysis on data consistent with concurrent functional regression models 
• Wrote separate R documentation files for user access functions
