Founder and CEO of the Global Institute For Tomorrow (GIFT), an independent pan-Asian think tank.  I was Chairman of Environmental Resources Management (ERM) in Asia Pacific for over a decade until 2004, establishing the company as Asia’s leading environmental consultancy.  

- Member of WEF’s Global Agenda Council on Governance for Sustainability and Experts Forum. 
- Executive Committee Member of the Club of Rome, the world’s premier scientific think tank
- Senior Fellow of CIMB ASEAN Research Institute (CARI)
- Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. 

Author of Consumptionomics: Asia's Role in Reshaping Capitalism and Saving the Planet, which was ranked as one of the top-fifty breakout capitalism books by The Guardian and has been translated into Chinese, German and Bahasa. My second book, The Sustainable State: The Future of Government, Economy and Society was recently published in October 2018. 

Creator of The Other Hundred, a non-profit book project which serves as a counterpoint to the Forbes 100 and other media rich lists (www.theotherhundred.com).

ERM: Environmental Resources Management

Chandran Nair was the Chairman of ERM Asia-Pacific and a member of the Board of the global company until March 2004.  He had regional responsibilities for ERM’s consulting business in the Asia-Pacific region where the Group had 21 offices in 12 countries and employed close to 500 staff. Under his leadership the profits of the region grew consistently over a decade despite the financial crisis of the late nineties. In his last year as Chairman the region created record profits making it the best performing region in the ERM Group.

From a single office of 10 people based in HK in 1991 he led the development of the company's activities throughout the region and established it as the acknowledged leader in the environmental consulting field.  Under his leadership the Group established offices in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Australia. ERM clients include many of the regional governments, development agencies and over eighty percent of the Fortune 500 companies.
