Others think I am quite intelligent, combined with being able to pick up traits quickly. I am lucky enough to be associated with wisdom for the emerging ethical & environmental practices. Personally I just want to be accepted as a comer-in in Yorkshire...

I realise this is a self-indulgent post & hope it does not appear narcissistic 😲  I have a higher profile than I deserve – possibly because I juggle 3 main things. My roots are as a pedagogue in the #PerformanceSportswearDesign field – I fell into teaching when I first graduated as a mature student; but I have been fronting lots of events – especially the #IngredientSourcing trade fairs. That has led me to being a columnist on The Outdoor Industry Compass. Normally I am the one asking questions to others, but I was invited to share my observations & aspirations by someone I respect: Mili John Tharakan (we share a common desire to enable Innovate UK make others’ dreams happen) 😊

My priority is to get the first #Day0 set up at the FUNCTIONAL TEXTILES SHANGHAI by PERFORMANCE DAYS show on March 4th so that there is access to the best thinking towards #BetterPractice where so many of the Ingredients are transformed into fabrics. The higher up the supply chain improvements are made the greater the amplification

I am not disappearing as I continue my work for #Amaterrace (hence will be at PD). My last moderation role for FUNCTIONAL FABRIC FAIR (powered by PERFORMANCE DAYS) will happen in just over a week at the #Orlando event, alongside the #PGA show 

Meanwhile enjoy the recording from last year 😀 As I advocate to my students: if you don’t dream big – you have nothing to aim for; whilst if you share your dreams, you will find more support out there than you think that will get you there faster…

In exactly 7 days the first FUNCTIONAL FABRIC FAIR (powered by PERFORMANCE DAYS) fair #Winter opens in the Orange County Convention Centre – alongside the bigger PGA Golf Shows. The #IngredientSourcing event is venturing south to add another location & orientation to its focus at an event more tuned to the #Golf, #Raquet, #Fitness industries – all of which have progressed to technical materials to offer enhanced #Comfort + #Performance, but done with a more pleasing eye than the #Outdoors market asks  😀 

I will be moderating the #ExpertTalks stage for the 2-day show. The line up has the core from other shows (an insight from the Trend Forum & the predictions from Alexa Dehmel + Nora Kühner); the regulars (contributions from bluesign & Hohenstein Group with Alex Helander + Jan); ones who have been on our stage before (Hyosung Performance Textiles’s Malvina H. + the David E. Ballico); plus newcomers to our event:Anna Gonzalski, Samantha Frederick, Neil Bell, Jason Thompson, Lorenzo Rescali, Matt Sutton. RX Global are leading the iteration – this show is the size that #FFF #NYC started at & that has now become a mainstay of the #TextileSourcingWeek in #July. It will be my last time moderating the event: Stewart Sheppard will take on the role when the show happens in #Pdx in April. The latest column in The Outdoor Industry Compass was prompted after having a cynical reaction to reading a press release around micro-plastic shedding technology – it prompted me to reflect on how many ‘tales’ I had believed without scrutinising them first   https://lnkd.in/eCANBXwM 

I know this could be seen as cutting off my nose to spite my face, but colleagues will know that I do not mind admitting I have got things wrong – but we need a better honesty in the workplace (otherwise: will those with just the biggest marketing budget win?). I really believe in better design as the point of differentiation between product as how change happens – rather than the packaging around it. I accept that commerce progresses, but do not like the use of hoodwinking as a business tool

The other thing is that I am lucky to have good people I can trust to get clarity on information when I need assistance: but I will not reveal my sources here 😳  The trust I have with so many of them is through ongoing conversations – friends who have educated me to so much better knowledge
