Attorney Charlotte Towne aka "The Mermaid Lawyer®️" has devoted her practice to the representation of creative and innovative businesses and individuals since 2009. Her law firm, Charlotte Towne Law, provides legal services in the areas of trademark and copyright for all businesses, intellectual property licenses, and contractual matters in the areas of music, film, television, art, fashion, theatre, internet, social media, and licensing. Charlotte’s entertainment clientele has included reality television celebrities, famous rappers, social media influencers, record labels, film production companies, songwriters, and more. Her trademark and copyright clientele have included fashion brands, cosmetics companies, cigar and liquor companies, toy companies, skin care services and products, health and wellness providers, entertainers, 3D printing companies, and more. Charlotte has been an active member of the Florida Bar Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law section (EASL), serving in a multitude of leadership positions, including as the 2016-2017 EASL Section Chair and 2023-2024 Section Treasurer. Charlotte has spoken on numerous legal panels over the years for the ABA Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries, EASL, and North American Law Summit, and at various law school symposiums. Charlotte is also co-founder of a music business tech company, Nvoko, building an ecosystem that empowers indie artists by helping them secure their creative rights. Charlotte’s other entrepreneurial endeavors include inventing a transforming doll. Protected by a registered utility patent, her doll can take the form of any fantasy character through its proprietary transforming mechanisms. Many also know Charlotte as an avid mermaid lover and mother of two. Charlotte performs regularly throughout South Florida as a professional mermaid with world renowned performer Mermaid Elle®️ at upscale events and parties, including Miami Fashion Week, Art Basel, and F1 Grand Prix. In 2018, Charlotte became lifeguard certified and led mermaid classes at the Harbor Beach Marriott Resort in Fort Lauderdale. Her students wore swimmable mermaid tails and fulfilled their dreams of transforming into mermaids. She was also a consultant for Fin Fun®️, the world’s most recognized mermaid tail company, appearing at conventions as Fin Fun’s Mermaid University ambassador and spokesperson. She has appeared in many television news media productions in Florida, including on Deco Drive, Channel 10, Bloom, and Daytime TV.
