My Story --------------> --> My life for the past 8 years has been quite a journey. I have lived in 4 different states and two different countries. I have attended two different universities, started a small service business, got married, and now I have a beautiful daughter. All these experiences have taught me that real joy is found in the small moments. --> When I started my university studies in 2021, I decided to study accounting. I interviewed close to a dozen successful business professionals asking for their advice on what degree to choose. Most of them were not accountants, but all agreed on one thing. Accounting is the most valuable business skill one can gain in college. --> Since then, I have come to love accounting. I love the critical thinking required and how critical accounting is to the business world. My knowledge of financial and cost accounting principles has paid dividends in so many ways. It has helped me as a project manager, production supervisor, and in personal investing as I now know how to read financial statements. --> Accounting also opened the world of Microsoft Excel to me. Excel has become my best friend. All around it is arguably one of the most powerful platforms Data Analysts and Financial Professionals have at their disposal. I have used it to clean, filter, organize, and visualize data. My current fascination with Excel is all about keyboard shortcuts. I have increased my productivity ten times by implementing keyboard shortcuts. --> In today’s economic climate, professionals must do more than just have a well-written resume. Relevant experience matters, but even more important is your network. LinkedIn is the perfect platform to develop meaningful friendships and relationships. Networking is not asking for a reference or job. Networking is being genuinely interested in others and doing your best to help them in any way that you can. --> A focus of mine right now is helping fellow students see the value of an accounting degree. I have been able to connect with amazing professionals in the accounting world and I want to highlight the bright spots in the profession! This is why I started my podcast, Accounting Conversations.
