What would happen if your product came to life? 

This was a question we recently asked ourselves at Close—and answered. 

When we say we like to keep things human, we mean it. Here's a behind-the-scenes look at our Features battling it out for top PMM billing.

Chelsea Castle 

Asking myself this one question daily has changed my life:

"What's the most important thing I need to do right now?" 

Picture this: I walked downstairs after a meeting and had 30 minutes till my next one. What do I do? 

A) Go to the bathroom, grab a snack, and get right back to work 
B) Load the mountain of dishes into the dishwasher so my husband doesn't have to (and I'll feel better not having the clutter) 
C) Spend 20 minutes exercising or going for a walk 

All three are correct answers. But in that moment, A was the most important thing for me to do. 

On this day, I needed to maximize every minute getting work done. Other days, I may be ahead on work, and I will take the 20 minutes to spend time with my daughter or take care of myself.

Our brains are constantly seeking efficiency. We are always subconsciously assessing "where should my attention go," whether we're at home, at work, or out with friends. 

Now, we often don't choose the best answer, right? Like when we grab our phone for a dopamine hit instead of being present with someone or taking a walk.

I've long been obsessed with the idea of time as our most valuable currency. But once I made this habit to pause and ask myself, "What do I actually need to do right now?" everything changed. 

No hyperbole. Because it's a forcing function to prioritize each part of my day intentionally. 

This practice allows me to map my day to my goals and values, rather than just going through my daily loop. I'm no longer just going through the motions; I'm designing my day. 

It's not as regimented as it may sound here; it's actually a free-flowing self-check-in that makes me stay in the moment and live intentionally. 

For me, this practice has enabled me to get better at making time for sleep, exercise, productive work, self-care, and quality time with my family. It's led to more creative play with my kid, losing weight, accomplishing more, and more rest (something I've had to work at). 

It’s a small habit, but it’s been a massive shift in how I approach productivity, how I align with my values, and how I show up for the people I care about (and myself).
