What's really grinding my gears these days: our inability to accept that two things can be true at the same time. 

It's impossible to write the tiniest thing that may just barely cross the "not pro-AI" line without someone jumping out to say "BUT MY AI IS AMAZING" "well it gave me an incredible idea the other day!" "well my AI process is working great for me."

Cool, cool. Love that for you. But hear me out:

We are holding ourselves back when we cannot accept two truths:

- You can be both critical and bullish of AI at the same time (in fact, you should be critical if you are bullish)

- You can love how AI helps you and question how it's changing your brain over time

- You can learn from others' AI use cases and not want to use it ever 

- You can use it every day and then not use it for weeks 

AI *is* nuanced and subjective. We are all over the spectrum with our thoughts, feelings, and experiences. This is the beauty of humanity, after all. 

But perspective is a function of experience. The more you accumulate experience with AI (which can be listening and learning, not only using), the more data points you gain that can broaden your understanding. 

I don't think our job is to pick a side, it's to pay attention. 

Choose discernment > blind optimism or constant criticism 

Whatever your feelings and experience may be, remember: we’re not in a race to be right about AI. We’re in a race to stay curious.

Curiosity keeps you open. Certainty shuts you down.

Dear LinkedIn, I've missed you. 

I've written and deleted about a dozen posts in the last few weeks. So much to say that it's been hard to express it all. 

I've had a hard time showing up digitally over the last few months, with *gestures broadly at the world*, so I've simply taken a break. 

It's been fruitful, but I've so missed the people here. The things that make this community special. The things haters and stereotype-pushers may never see or experience.  

My head and my heart are constantly ping-ponging between marketing videos and tragic news; sales content and terrifying unknowns. Compartmentalizing has been painfully difficult. So before showing up here again, I had to address this first. And let you know that if you have at all felt similarly, you are not alone. 

We all have to keep doing our jobs and doing them well. But we are humans first. We all play a role in society and caring for our planet. We are stronger together. That feels a little corny to say. But I've often found that if something is corny, it's because it's true and human. 

Unity is the only way forward. And we can all start wherever we can in our digital, personal, and work lives to build and embrace that. Love and unity always win. Embrace being vulnerable. It's the only way through.
