Valence Vibrations is an early-stage neurotech company, specializing in affective computing. We aim to make emotional communication more accessible across neurotypes, languages, and cultures by delivering emotional feedback in real-time conversation. Through visual and haptic signals, users are able to quickly and discreetly interpret the emotions of those around them. Our products help reduce emotional miscommunication, allowing people to better understand and connect with those around them.

Had a great time last night at GitHub HQ learning about the future of agents with Molly Cantillon from NOX working on anticipatory intelligence, Pol Peiffer from Sierra building voice agents for CX, and of course my cofounder Shannon Brownlee speaking about how emotion AI fits into the agentic voice stack.

Japan’s government has formally asked OpenAI to stop using anime and manga aesthetics without permission—a moment that signals a broader reckoning over creative ownership. The question is no longer whether models like Sora can produce realistic art, but whether they should imitate content that carries more cultural meaning than value in productivity.

This turns the conversation toward authorship and stewardship. Maybe what needs protecting isn’t only the content of art, but the style itself.

I'm curious what the next phase of data licensing will be with respect to memes in Dawkins' definition as single units of cultural significance.

Ten seconds is now enough to make a movie.

But who really owns the story?

Sora 2 is everywhere right now — OpenAI’s new video model that can turn a text prompt into a photorealistic scene in seconds. It’s already topping the App Store charts, and for good reason.

But the real story isn’t just the tech.

People are using it to generate scenes with real actors, brands, even politicians — blurring the line between creativity and consent. Suddenly, copyright, deepfakes, and authenticity are colliding in the same frame.

OpenAI says new “granular controls” will let rights holders block or approve use of their likenesses. That’s a start. But the bigger questions feel unresolved:
When does protection become limitation?

How do we guard against harm without suffocating imagination?

And in a world where any idea can look real — what even is real?

This isn’t just another app launch. It’s a cultural inflection point.
