I am an aerospace engineer and science communicator who wishes to bridge the gap between science and society. Not afraid to challenge status quo, I act as a role model for the next generation and want to modernize the way we communicate about science. 

With an engineering degree in Management of Technology and Entrepreneurship from EPFL, I am the founder of the company Galactic Studios, building a better world through science communication, education, and positive influence, linked to current societal challenges. 

As a science influencer, I host, under the name “Galactic Chloé”, my own YouTube channel and inspire the public through interactive presentations on social networks. After being honored by the International Astronautical Federation and the European Space Agency and winning the title of “NextGen Hero”, I, one day, dream to become a Moon-walker.

Est-ce acceptable pour un.e journaliste de pleurer à l'antenne ?

Ce matin, c'était ma reprise dans la matinale de la RTS, sur Couleur 3. Et cette chronique a été une des plus difficiles à écrire depuis longtemps. 

Notre rôle, en tant que médias, est d’informer (et de divertir).
Mon rôle à moi, chaque jeudi matin, c’est de parler de sciences en quatre minutes, sur un ton léger et souvent humoristique.

Mais depuis ce 1er janvier, le cœur n’y est pas vraiment.

En écrivant ce texte, je me suis posé mille questions. Suis-je légitime pour évoquer ce drame ? Je ne suis pas touchée directement, et pourtant je me sens profondément affectée.
En parler frontalement me mettait mal à l’aise. Ne pas en parler me donnait l’impression de nier une réalité trop lourde pour être ignorée.
Alors j’ai cherché un entre-deux.

J’ai parlé de sciences. J’ai tenté de faire sourire, avec quelques références à Friends. Mais j’ai aussi parlé de ce que je ressens, et de ce qui m’aide à avancer. Parce qu’il y a des événements qui n’ont aucun sens. Et dans ces moments-là, la science n’apporte pas toujours de réconfort.

Ce qui m’aide, moi, c’est l’art. Et en particulier la musique.
Alors j’ai choisi de laisser nos auditeurs et auditrices sur des paroles d’Orelsan, que je partage en commentaire, en hommage aux victimes, de près ou de loin, de Crans-Montana.

Maintenant, j'en reviens à ma question : est-ce acceptable de pleurer à l'antenne ? Car quand l’émotion est trop forte, les larmes montent sans qu’on les appelle. C’est ce qui m’est arrivé ce matin. Et c’est aussi ce qui est arrivé à Renaud et Ainhoa.

Certains pourraient argumenter que le rôle d'un média est de transmettre l'information de manière neutre. Mais j’aimerais proposer autre chose : ce matin, notre rôle était aussi d’être humains.
Et je crois sincèrement que partager notre vulnérabilité peut, parfois, nous aider collectivement à tenir un peu mieux.

Peut-être que ça devrait faire partie du rôle des médias aussi. Et à Couleur 3, dans cette matinale, j’ai le sentiment que c’est ce que nous faisons depuis trois ans.

Alors merci à la production et à l'animation de m'avoir permis de m'exprimer, merci à Renaud pour sa bienveillance et son courage de craquer publiquement, quand au fond, on craque tous silencieusement.

Ce poste n'a pas d'objectif, simplement de vous envoyer de l'amour et de la bienveillance. Pas toujours très "acceptable" dans un monde professionnel, et pourtant c'est tellement essentiel.
