As Editorial Manager at Barnabas Fund, I led the editorial department with four editors and produced copy timeously. I headed editorial department operations, including production of quarterly magazines, monthly and weekly newsletters, daily web newsfeeds, mailings, blogs, and reports in print (book, magazine, loose-leaf), digital and electronic format. I coordinated with international offices and stakeholders to generate content and fundraising campaigns.

I was a team manager at Amberley Publishing, Stroud, in charge of  team QC. I performed author contracts, copy editing, proofreading, blurbs, and indexing. I played a key role as local history and sports publisher by producing 200-plus mainly full-colour and illustrated titles a year.

30° South Publishers

As Managing Editor at 30° South Publishers, I led team of 6 permanent staff members and 12 freelancers for timely completion of project. I oversaw the largest non-fiction independent publisher operations in South Africa, while acting as publishing and editorial manager. I controlled international co-editions and buying and selling of rights. I prepared the law and business books as preferred supplier to South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF). I established and drive The Citizen Book Prize (fiction) with aim at young first-time writers.

Two of my key accomplishment that I attained are:
~ Improved the business from low base to publishing 75 non-fiction titles a year.
~ Regularly achieved sales in excess of 10,000 units per title.

I was a proposal writer for this Danish development agency, dealing with international donors / specialized in HIV/ AIDS awareness campaigns, projects for vulnerable women and girls, agricultural development and health programmes, e.g. Total Control of Tuberculosis (TC-TB) / regional projects in South Africa, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Mozambique, Lesotho / partners included USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Save the Children, UNICEF, Oxfam etc.

I started writing when I co-founded my high-school magazine, 'Vortex'. My first professional gig was as the sports reporter for the 'Northern News' in Harare, Zimbabwe. In Johannesburg, I wrote for a wide variety of publications including the travel section for Independent Group’s 'The Star', Denis Beckett’s 'Frontline' (satire and politics) and travelogues for 'African Safari Magazine'. I have written several books, including the autobiographical 'Fireforce' (in its 5th edition, over 35,000 copies sold), the sequel, 'Survival Course', and a novel, 'Deslocado Redemption', set in post-civil war Mozambique. I have co-authored and ghostwritten any number of non-fiction titles, 'Africa’s Commandos' being an example. I have just finished writing an autobiographical account of my childhood, entitled, 'A Colonial Boy:  The Soundtrack of an African Childhood'.
