SolTech brought me on to assist in a handful of projects they had in the queue which needed an apt PHP developer.

►  Inherited "half-way" completed, custom-built architecture from another firm and made client-requested modifications
►  Customized web application to pass data in both directions to physical devices provided by the client
►  Created budgeting application utilizing the Yii framework, SASS and AJAX

SportChirp has a mission to be a one-stop website for athletes, parents and coaches that is meant to “level the playing field” across all sports and levels. The platform allows users to write and find reviews on teams, coaches and organizations. Users can also build SportChirp profiles to network, catch the eye of recruiters, and post pursuits for playing or coaching opportunities.

Our slogan, #LEVELTHEPLAYINGFIELD, represents our mission in two important ways:

1. REVIEWS: Right now, teams, coaches and organizations have all the upfront knowledge about athletes. SportChirp will change the world of sports by leveling out the amount of information available to athletes about the same teams, coaches and organizations they want to play for.

2. RECRUITING: SportChirp will provide a platform for athletes to get noticed -- anywhere in the world not just in the more “privileged” areas.

JL Heather, MBA, CPCC, PCC had fallen into what he calls "the trap of security" at his old job.

Don't get me wrong - it was a good job, with a steady income, and a familiar routine. He was coasting on autopilot, not questioning whether he was growing or just going through the motions. When the company contracted and layoffs became likely, he saw it differently than most people would—he saw it as permission to finally take the leap he'd been avoiding.

The transition wasn't smooth. His first attempt at executive coaching crashed hard because he made the classic entrepreneur mistake: he was talking about what he wanted to sell instead of what customers actually needed to buy. 

Nobody cared that he was a "leadership coach." But when he started speaking their language around innovation challenges, everything changed.

Part way through the conversation, JL brought up the "enoughness" principle. Instead of waiting for perfect clarity or the ideal moment, he learned to move forward with 80% confidence. The adage of "C's get degrees" also rings true here lol. You don't need straight A's to make progress -- you just need enough information to take the next step.

The real lesson isn't about entrepreneurship or career pivots. It's about recognizing when your sense of security has become a limitation instead of a foundation. Sometimes the thing that feels like failure is actually the universe handing you permission to question everything you thought you knew about what you're capable of.
