Promoted from an Operations director role into the 360insights delivery team.  The delivery team is responsible for delivering platform based software solutions to our internal and external clients.  My focus was for planful delivery with technical excellence without losing sight on the necessity to deal with the unexpected as required.  Lead the team with a mindset that to be successful we must leverage our skills and continually expand our knowledge.  

To focus on platform delivery, restructured the delivery team from a vertical module based team organization to a horizontal capability based SCRUM team organization.  Helped establish 360’s goal of transitioning from Incentives processing business to and Insights business by standing up a Data and Analytics team driving by centralized data governance.  Introduced the usage of JIRA and Confluence across the team with a focus on metrics.

To improve planful delivery, established the role of Platform Lead.  The Platform Lead Role ensured that projects transitioned from Architecture into the SCRUM Based delivery teams with technical uncertainty identified, understood with recommended approaches.

Introduced formalized interview and onboarding processes, professional paths, an employee engagement team function, formalized approach to training, and formalized SRED processes.

Director of Solution Delivery

Responsibilities spanned Infrastructure, Help Desk and Application Support.  Set the focus of the Application Support and Help Desk to be:  Responsiveness to our 360 Internal and External Clients and their problems, Clear Accurate Communication to all Stakeholders, and Continuous Improvement through Transparency and Metrics.  With that focus the team transitioned from an ad-hoc email based team of 2 to a scaleable team successfully delivering on their mandate.  Introduced JIRA Service Desk, the ITIL concepts of Incident and Problem Management, Root Cause Analysis, Service Requests and runbooks and Client SLA’s and Metrics.  Expanded the team mandate to include a dedicated development SWAT Team providing Level 2 Support.

Director of Technology Infrastructure and Operations

Geosoft Inc.

Led a software team responsible for the creation and delivery of Geosoft’s technology that allows for both the mapping and 3 dimensional modeling the Earth’s subsurface and the management of large exploration datasets.  The Geosoft product line includes packaged desktop applications, hosted services, and solutions deployed via service engagements.

Responsible for process development and adoption.  General approach revolved around 5 cross functional teams delivering via Agile / SCRUM driven processes.  Direct reports included 3 SCRUM Masters.

Established a track record for on time releases.

Improved the R&D Team’s responsiveness to customers by establishing a Customer Response Group with a bug triage process that achieved a monthly turnaround time / release cycle for critical issues.  

Improved clarity and communication of the product roadmap and our Agile Team’s ability to commit by introducing the R&D Roadmapping Team and associated processes.  Worked with Product Management to ensure that projects were defined with clear business objectives tied back to Geosoft’s Customer Value Themes and sufficient detail to ensure that fundamental Architectural, UX and QA Approaches were provided to the Agile Teams.

Chaired the Geosoft Development Forum (PDF) meetings.  The PDF is responsible for the planning and successful execution of all development projects.

Antenna Software

Responsible for the delivery of the AMP Mobility platform.  Managerial responsibility of my own multi-site development team (Toronto, Seattle, London, New Jersey and India).   Responsible for the all aspects of the development lifecycle from functional definition, development, QA, documentation and product release.

The AMP Platform suite of software tools comprise components for development, deployment, and monitoring of mobile applications regardless of the device type.  

The AMP Platform has a large technical footprint that required an understanding of each technology and added complexity to the coordination of resources and quality assurance processes.  

- Eclipse and Visual Studio Plug-in development tools

- Java based AMP Server with Web Based administrator user interface and integration support for pluggable backend systems.

Director of Development - AMP Mobility Platform

Responsible for the delivery of development projects for the Transportation Manager and Freight Matrix (ASP Model) products from their initial releases.  Managerial responsibility of my own development team of up to 30 direct reports and co-ordination of resources for Functional Definition and Release oriented resources.

Transportation Manager supports all the activities necessary to manage and execute the full life cycle of the transportation process - from order management to financial settlement.  It is a multi-tiered, C++/Java Client/Sever architecture with a well defined object model and process model achieving high performance and scalability.

Management of multi-site (Markham, Cambridge, and India) and multi-platform (Win32, AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Oracle, DB2, WebLogic, WebSphere) development projects.

The Transportation Manager and Freight Matrix technologies include J2EE, EJB’s, JSP’s, Java, C++, MFC Bases UI’s, Transaction Processing, Persistent Object Management, Database Development, Client / Server, CORBA, XML API’s, WebMethods Integration.

Responsible for implementing improved processes across the whole software development life cycle.  Implemented process changes needed to accommodate the rapid growth and decline brought on by the ‘Tech Bubble’.

Ahearn & Soper Inc

Manager for the Engineering Department in Jan of 1996.

Lead Developer of team of 6 people from Oct. 1994 – Dec 1995.

Responsible for system definition and leading project / product implementations with direct customer involvement throughout.  Involved with presales, customer requirements, product design, scheduling, development, beta testing, and post sales.

Led the design and implementation of Ahearn & Soper’s TransNet Transaction Processor product for Windows NT.  TransNet provided a single environment allowing for rapid development and deployment of bar-coding based solutions (WIP, Inventory, Asset and Warehouse Management, Time and Attendance, Compliance Labeling) without the developer requiring specific knowledge about the various terminals available on the market.  The TransNet architecture was modular allowing individual processes to be distributed throughout a network.  

Technologies included multi-threading, multi-processing, ODBC, TCP/IP Sockets, OOD, OOP, Structured Exception Handling, and MFC.

Team Lead / Engineering Manager

Honeywell Process Solutions

Team Lead of a five member team responsible for the development of Honeywell’s PC Network Manager (PCNM) Product.  Team Lead responsibilities included, scheduling, product design/implementation, and the coordination of staff, resources and contractors.  Technologies included Client /Server architecture, Windows NT, OS/2, OOD, and SQL Server.

Provided on-site support to customers throughout North America and Europe and spent approximately one year working remotely in Phoenix Arizona.

Aided in developing the design methodologies necessary for meeting ISO9000.
