Operations Manager

Iron Mountain UK

Promoted in November 2016 to Area Operations Manager covering 2 Archive Data Centres in Wakefield and Kings Lynn, incorporating Document Storage & Management, Data Media Backup Storage and a Logistics teams in both sites. I have full P&L and Operational responsibility for the sites and support the two Operations Managers in the running of them.  Between them, the sites service over 500 clients from the Financial, Legal, Healthcare and Public sectors where we act as a trusted partner for their audit retention and disaster recovery requirements.
I have a 39 strong operations team over the two sites with coverage through the whole of Yorkshire and The Humber, to North Nottinghamshire and a large part of Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Teeside.
As well as my normal Operational duties, I also work with the Western European Subject Matter Expert and the UK Continual Improvement & Innovation Teams, where I provide support to implement operational upgrades and project manage rollout of systems and process changes.

Area Operations Manager

Promoted in 2009 to manage the entire running of a 24/7/365 Multi-function Data Centre incorporating Document Storage & Management, Data Media Backup Storage, Secure Shredding and Logistics.

Manage a 41 strong team and a fleet of 21 vehicles covering all of Yorkshire, Humberside, Derbyshire, North Nottinghamshire, and a large part of Lincolnshire.

Given and additional site to manage in February 2016 when Follingsby Park in Gateshead was added to my responsibilities.  This meant an additional 13 employees and an area covering the whole of Northumberland and Cumbria.

Data Centre Manager

Seconded to work with the Iron Mountain Turkey Management team and support them through the operational integration between IM Turkey and the recently acquired RM Turkey business.

Providing support, training and advice to the existing site management teams during the Systems Migration on how to use the operational basics of the O'Neil Records Management system more effectively and develop their own controls. 

Working with Business Systems team in creating and implementing  initial workflows for the new WMS that are tailored to the Iron Mountain business.

Providing guidance on the asset movement into a new 3M+ cuft site, and providing an operational perspective to the constuction team currently managing the installation of the racking in the same site.

Operations Support (Secondment)

Promoted in January 2008 to Operations Manager with the additional responsibility of managing the Transport Operation as well as the existing Records Management Warehouse Operation.

Promoted in March 2005 to open and manage a brand new Records Management Data Centre in Wakefield.

Data Centre Supervisor

Promoted in March 2004 to lead a team of 4 Data Centre Specialists concentrating on the Inbound and storage of all documents collected in the North West area.

Data Centre Team Leader

Changed job titles in June 2003 when Iron Mountain bought Hays IMS.  Then spent 8 months moving between existing Iron Mountain sites in the North West learning the new Operating system in order to train others in Cheetham Hill in advance of IT conversion.

Employed initially as a temporary Operative in Leeds, but then full time Multi-skilled Operative in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, I was employed by Hays IMS to store and retrieve documents being collected from and distributed too our various clients in the Financial, Healthcare, Legal and Public sectors.
