You really can reduce your scope (properly) to fit a client's budget. New learning for me 🤯
Most of my contracts have previously involved being full-on. Strategy. Logistics. Marketing. Project Management. Full-time energy. That's all I'd ever known!

I'd feel annoyed if a potential client said their budget was a low figure for the strategy, production and marketing of a webinar project. Annoyed they didn't understand the resources involved.

I'd repeatedly either:
A) agree on the full scope at the low price but feel frustrated and underpaid (as I couldn't take on more work simultaneously)
or
B) price out the client / walk away from the gig. I didn't even attempt to offer a tweaked package with reduced scope.

I didn't think my webinar knowledge alone was valuable unless I was also full-on marketing/executing for a client. Who would pay for just that? I assumed clients wanted all in or nothing.

But I've been approaching recent proposals for clients with lower budgets with convos like: 'okay here's how we can work within your budget... here's a strategy, here are all the steps to run & promo a webinar. I'll guide you on how to execute and be here for regular support as you do so'.

Learning *so* much about business development in the last few months (after making many mistakes). Sharing as I go 🤓

Does the idea of running webinars sound ideal but overwhelming? Challenge yourself to run *one* webinar in 2-3 months to gather learnings... 

Get one done. Then assess whether to run webinars regularly and resource them properly.

📹 Month 1: pilot webinar marketing strategy and logistical setup

• Decide who the ideal attendees would be

• Decide the topic (that would genuinely interest your ideal audience)

• Put together a promotion plan to drive registrations (assume only 30% of registrants attend live)

• Source your guest speaker if relevant (perhaps an internal speaker for the pilot webinar)

• Choose & setup your webinar platform

• Create the webinar registration page with the chosen webinar date

📹 Month 2: promotion and running the webinar

• Go all out on promotional efforts

• Prepare the webinar content to be as engaging as possible

• Run the webinar 🥳

📹 Month 3: execute the post-webinar experience and evaluate

• Send post-webinar email sequence and recording to attendees

• Evaluate data and learnings (across the production side and marketing side)

• Think about repurposing the webinar recording and where it can live online

If this pilot webinar goes well your quarter 2 goal could then be to take learnings and scale the webinar programme.
