Redesigning Finance: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. 

In 2022, 13 students embarked on a journey in the Spring to explore the following challenge: 
*How might we redesign financial relationships to dignify historically underrepresented entrepreneurs?* 

45 individuals collaborated regularly with our Redesigning Finance students to focus on real-world systemic issues or improving the contributions that historically underrepresented entrepreneurs can make as the innovation assets and creative people they and their firms represent. The class brought in Lines of Business leaders from Apple, bankers from Silicon Valley bank, and community leaders through Community College.

- first designer for the only U.S. Congress-approved cloud-based constituent communication platform 
- Researched, designed, tested, and quality-checked over 20 features of the main web app product
- Migrated, re-ordered, and re-componetized all design assets from Sketch and InVision into Figma

Lead Product Designer

- Designed and led user interviews for a Department of Energy-funded program that investigates how to structure future investment vehicles for early-stage clean energy technologies. 
- Interviewed 20 early-stage clean tech founders to uncover insights on how investor relationships, team organization and growth trajectory, and industry sponsorship affected their company's exit outcome.

- Led user research across 4 product lines
- Presented customer insights at the executive-level to inform a company-wide business pivot in January 2020
- Re-designed and re-shipped the Documents product - one of the most celebrated client products - in 2 sprints

@Ongo Science - redesigning the website's B2B program creator to increase the usability of product with existing customers 
@Mental Health California - creating and testing a MVP iOS app that incorporates design patterns to engage teenage users 

Tradecraft is a tech incubator that challenges product designers and growth marketers to accel at high growth startups through a combination of internships and mentorship from industry experts.

Cypress Creek Renewables

- Designed new bidding processes for third-party construction and procurement services for a $100M+ pipeline of utility-scale solar farms 
- Identified key technical pain points of the existing design-engineer-finance-construct project path through internal stakeholder interviews; recommendations were adopted to improve the internal review process after third-party construction bids are received

Contract Negotiatior  |  Supply Chain and Construction

- Created internal project tools that rank and forecast development risks to a solar farm’s financeability; enabled company’s largest sale (by project quantity) of over 100 assets to close and generated over $2M in assets sold
- Identified key technical and legal project issues across multiple verticals in real estate, environmental and local permitting, utility and power off-take contracting; refined narratives to mitigate turbulence with external investors for active deals; prioritized development milestones within project roadmaps with internal teams

Deal Diligence  |  Finance

Sunverge Energy, Inc.

- Researched and developed marketing requirement documents (MRD) that addressed major potential users of Sunverge’s full line of energy software and hardware products; applied MRDs in marketing and product department discussions to align external messaging with internal product roadmap 
- Expanded user and buyer personas for all products by 300%; identified both consumer and business pain points through usability tests, industry expert interviews, and market research 
- Launched a cloud-based assets library to standardize sales materials across 2 continents; designed and published over 100 sales collateral pieces, including the primary sales decks used during all stages of customer acquisition; improved sales efficiency by reducing engagement-to-close timeframe by 75%

Product Marketing Manager

- Developed roadmap for investing in clean energy assets using Australia’s State of Queensland sovereign funds; this strategy was adopted by the fund's investment committee and subsequently applied to diligence 7 additional earlier stage technologies (e.g., drones, car sharing, autonomous vehicles)

♴ My trajectory has been engineering ⇀ finance ⇀ construction ➞ product design. Systemic problems are too complex to solve in silos, and I constantly evolve my skill set to meet these demands. From negotiating contracts in clean tech real estate development to consulting pension funds on sustainable infrastructure investments, I believe that evolution and diversity are key to solving the uber-hairy industry issues.
