"Christine, that's NOT. YOUR. JOB!" As a new mechanical engineer, I was accepted into Chrysler's high-potential design program. I spent my nights getting a Master's degree as I was committed to creating an impact in the automotive industry. Soon I realized that although I was hired for my "out of the box thinking," I heard "get back in the box" each time I spoke. My bosses were excellent engineers who were promoted into leadership without the skills to lead a diverse team of talent. The tipping point came in 2005. My boss asked us to design a plan to hit Toyota's quality numbers. I asked why we weren't trying to exceed their numbers. He shook his head and said "you're so idealistic." I joined a boutique management consulting firm a few months later, and I never looked back. Finally, it was my job to care about my team members' success, what my clients experienced and to deliver results. In 2008, I founded Leader in Motion™. I believe that every organization needs a diverse bench of strong talent who are ready to step up and lead at any moment. With expertise in sales, women in leadership, stress management and leadership development of mid-level managers, our programs can change an organization’s culture for the better. Leader In Motion’s mission is to train mid-level managers and high potential talent on practical tools and methodologies that they can apply in their day to day work.
