Since retiring from California State University, Northridge, Dr. Jones has devoted himself full-time to writing mysteries, poetry, and now and then a creative nonfiction piece. He goes under the pseudonym Topper Jones for his detective novels featuring Thaddeus Hanlon and partner Bri de la Guerra. He served on the Editorial Review Board for both the Journal of Information Systems Education (2006-2021) and the Journal of Computer Information Systems (1997-2021). In 2016, he received the Computer Educator of the Year Award from the International Association for Computer Information Systems. Prior to joining academia, Dr. Jones worked for over 15 years in public accounting, industry, and information technology including positions as an external auditor (Arthur Andersen & Company), internal auditor (Lockheed Corporation), IT director (Good Will Publishers), and board member (Utah Community Credit Union) with oversight for a $550M financial institution.
