The path of least resistance is a terrible teacher.

Work smarter, not harder is something that's often quoted by people that do neither. 

I believe you can only work smarter, when you can extract the lessons learned from working hard. 

I've yet to meet a successful athlete that hasn't put years of hard work into the gym. 

I've yet to meet a successful business owner that hasn't put years of hard work into upskilling.

Working smart is a reward for working hard.

Working smart is a result of you reflecting on your experiences to date and acknowledging where you can leverage your energy/time/network to increase your return of investment in your home, life, or business endeavor.

Many people in today's society are so fixated on the quick wins, the quick fix, the short cut, the magic pill that they tragically miss the great lessons that unfold with time and experience.

The Rising Tide lifts all Boats

Another incredible morning at the Natural Resilience Rising Tide Network event. There truly is a phenomenal business community here in Northern Ireland and to get to spend time in their company during these events is something I truly cherish.

This morning we were greeted by a calm but cold sea. High tides and big smiles followed by a wood fired sauna courtesy of Ray Mccall of Starview Hot Tubs & Outdoor Living.

It was then back to the venue to enjoy a hot breakfast thanks to Suitor and Co in Hollywood (Nichola Suitor) before settling down to listen to two Incredible speakers in Chris Stothers and Alan Mahon.

Chris began his self employed journey today, delivered his first talk today, and put a chip down as someone that's going to make a positive difference in the corporate world and beyond, today. 

A remarkable tale of adversity from being shot, to protecting President Obama to outlining how he plans to move forward despite the presence of fear. 

Next up was Alan Mahon, CEO of Brewgooder whose purpose led company and drive to make the world a better place is nothing short of inspirational. Alan spoke of the power of being underestimated and using it as a driving force to prove yourself and others right to, do right.

We also heard from Ben Gadd who's about to launch an innovative health and wellbeing facility in the heart of East Belfast, Gadd Group Health. You can message Ben directly to avail of a complimentary ticket to their launch this Sunday.

It's all a Balancing "Act"

Like anything in life, be careful who you take advice from. 

I've all too often seen self professed guru's post about "balance"  usually accompanied by a picture of them on holiday and a quote from a book they haven't read. 

Truth be told, if you're a parent of young children and juggling that on top of growing a business and navigating life, then your version of balance is going to much different than a part time personal trainer or "life coach" in their 20s.

And that's ok....

Ive found that it's best to explore your own version of balance than to compare it to others. For example, I've posted a picture of me meditating above looking zen AF. Yet with launching a new app this week I've been stressed to the max.

You see, not everything is as it seems. On top of that everyone has their own unique tipping point when it comes to balance. How you find yours is through self awareness in the form of experience, self reflection and inner exploration.

This morning I head to Donegal for a few days to facilitate a wellbeing retreat for business owners, CEOs and entrepreneurs. I won't force my version of balance on them but gently introduce them to the five pillars of wellbeing so that they can find theirs.
