As a data scientist with a non-traditional background, I bring together the creativity and communication skills of a veteran freelance writer and the technical know-how forged through formal education and workplace experience. In my career so far, I have worked on every part of the data pipeline: gathering requirements from clients, creating and managing SQL tables, collecting data, building front-end visualizations and data products, and coding easily interpretable predictive algorithms. Before data science, I worked as a freelance writer, math and physics tutor, and bartender. This non-traditional combination uncovered and distilled a passion for communicating complex, technical topics in accessible and interesting ways. I have also led several seminars on media readiness and writing skills for professional organizations in the service industry. Additionally, I am the author of two published books: Romantic Cocktails (2019) and The Classic & Craft Cocktail Recipe Book (2017).
