SOAR Center (Students Organizing Accessible Resources Center)

The SOAR Center provides students at Willamette University with access to professional clothing, food, hygiene products, textbooks, and more. The center is student-run and created and currently funded through donations and a campus grant called The Green Fund. 

Responsible for publicizing and raising awareness of the SOAR Center at Willamette University.

Creates posters, graphics, social media postings, and events to promote the center.

Works alongside other coordinators to train volunteers and organize the center. This includes writing grants for funding, organizing events, and working with other on campus groups.

La Chispa de Salem/The Salem Spark

The Spark!, formally known as Roots of Change (RoC), is a newsletter that seeks to streamline and synergize communication and advocacy regarding social justice, equity, wellness, and environmental issues at Willamette University. Core goals include providing leadership opportunities, coalition building, and fostering better communication between groups and students. 

As Roots Coordinator I aim to unify social justice, environmental, and wellness messaging; working to give voice to organizations within the university and in the Greater Salem Area, specifically working with groups such as La Chispa de Salem, and The SOAR Center. I am mainly responsible for creating the newsletter once coordinators have gathered the appropriate information, as well as coordinating meetings and events.

The Spark! is funded by a Green Fund Grant, and has partnered with both La Chispa de Salem and the SOAR Center to further unify messaging regarding environmental justice more specifically.

Created and executed a live-streamed 5person panel focusing on the business landscape and how the workforce is changing.

Coordinated a 5 person panel working with the Diversity Team focusing on how Diversity Breeds Innovation in the workplace. This live-streamed activation gained traction on Workday's social media channels and received over 2K engagements. 

Worked with the Wellbeing Team to organize a 7 person panel discussing mental health in the workplace. This video was recorded with the intention to share on social media and the Wellbeing Team to use for educational purposes. 

Responsible for highlighting the internship program throughout the summer. This was done through a series of social media activations.

Willamette University

The Green Fund exists to support projects promoting social justice, equity, and the environment in the Willamette community.

Work with other student committee members in deciding which sustainable projects will be funded by the university's Green Fund. 

Specifically responsible for raising awareness of current projects on campus, and availability of the fund through social media, posters, event planning, and other marketing avenues.
