4 years ago I was broke and had no idea how to generate opportunity for myself. So, I did what most people do.

I doom scrolled on Twitter.

Now most nights I would have doom scrolled, passed out, and went on with my normal life of minimum payments and corporate meetings.

This night was a little different.

I came across a post that said "I make a $1,000 a week from social media"

Initial thought: "this is a scam"

Next thought: "screw it, I'll bite"

One $29 Gumroad course later and I was setting up my profile

The next 8 months I literally lost money chasing ecom, affiliate marketing, drop shipping, and every other way the internet tells you to make money

My wife literally asked me why I was still trying to make it work, and my response was pretty simple:

"I just can't quit again"

Up to that point I had set out on a lot of journeys where when things got hard, I quit.

That's when I went all in on writing and growing my own audience.

Then this happened:

• Gained 40,000 followers in March 2022
• Muscled my way into a role at a content agency
• Wrote 100+ long-form pieces of content per month
• Launched @golegacybuilder and signed first client
• 2022: $240k, 2023: $840k, 2024: 1.25M
• Quit my job in early 2023
• Partnered with Brett Erik (great decision)
• Became the go-to place for B2B companies to scale executive brands through social, newsletter, and video

Long nights, relentless execution, crippling doubt

But here I am

Now we work with founders every single day to give them the same ability to create their own path through content

My dad always told me: "everything you want in life is on the other side of the work required to get it"

Going into Q4 I am reminded of those words

We are just getting started

If I lost everything tomorrow & had to get it all back…

Here’s how I’d build a $1M personal brand in 12 months:

1. Pick one problem worth solving

Not 5. Not 3. One.
Solve it for a very specific type of person.

2. Document daily, don’t “create”

Share what I’m learning, testing, and building in public.
Consistency > perfection.

3. Package insights into frameworks

Simple visuals, repeatable systems, and sticky language that spreads.
People remember what they can use.

4. Build distribution before monetization

Grow on 1-2 platforms. Capture emails.
If you don’t own attention, you don’t own leverage.

5. Create a flagship offer

Solve the problem with a high-ticket service/product.
Price it so 10–20 clients = $1M business.

6. Stack leverage

Turn client work into content.
Turn content into products.
Turn products into community.

The formula doesn’t change.
The tools will.

Attention + Authority = $1M Brand.

I started running my content agency, Legacy Builder, 4 years ago.

We went from $0 to $2M ARR in less than 3 years.

Here’s the truth I’ve learned:
Most founders overcomplicate growth.

The fastest path to $1M+ is simple:

Build a personal brand that attracts opportunities

2000: I lost my mom to cancer

2001: I found out I was adopted

2002: I started doing drugs

2004: I started playing football

2007: I battled depression

2010: I went to college

2012: I met my future wife

2018: I became a father

2020: I was in $30k credit card debt

2021: I started a social media account

2022: I made my first dollar online

2023: I quit my job and went all in

The one thought I had the entire time was that the only person who could get me out of this is myself

These things take time

Why are you still doing this? - my wife

I was 8 months into posting content daily and the results weren't great 

> lost money chasing new hustles
> no idea how I was going to make money
> I was overwhelmed, overworked, and exhausted

My response:

"I just don't want to quit again"

I don't know if you can relate, but I had a track record of quitting

The cycle went:

new idea → few months of trying → things got hard → quit → new idea

instead of quitting I asked around and focused on my account

> figured out how to grow (40k followers in March 2022)
> started working for another agency (200+ long forms per month)
> eventually launched Legacy Builder
> scaled to $50k/mo and quit my job
> now doing $2M+ per year (and growing)

all because I didn't quit this time
