As the first Documentation Manager and Technical Writer in ABN AMRO, my role was to set up docOps for all internal and external APIs.  

My work also involved providing training, guiding developer portal development, and working with teams to establish and define the API development processes.

In this role I created content for three products in the DevOps space. I defined procedures, the peer review cycle, held workshops, devised a content revision strategy, implemented content versioning, and worked with UX and Developers to create a new documentation site. 

I was the Scrum Master for my team, overseeing and managing sprints, attending Scrum of Scrum meetings, and managing priorities.

Johnson Controls

In this role I interacted with SMEs world-wide, mentored Junior Information Developers, provided training, managed translations, and maintained technical documentation for Johnson Controls Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. I also managed and presented on-site and off-site demonstrations to internal and external clients. 

A large portion of my time was spent researching cutting edge technology. I presented this research to internal clients, including both the Tyco and Johnson Controls Executive Boards.  Some of this research was as follows: 

- Augmented Reality (AR): I completed research into this technology and how it could be used to convey technical information to Service Technicians. This research involved experimentation with cutting edge software in the AR space and developing these concepts into practical applications. 

- Bluetooth based product and device connectivity:   The basis of this project was around the concept of delivering product and context specific information to a Service Technician or Facility Manager, based on their proximity to a product that is experiencing a fault. 

- Near Field Communication (NFC) research: As part of a smart information delivery project I completed research on this technology.

- Johnson Controls, Tech Challenge 2017 Grand Prize Winner: Based on my research, I devised a system to securely deliver context aware information to field agents. Over the next two months, I managed a team of 5 Developers to create a proof-of-concept, gather company-wide metrics and data, and create a plan to market. My team and concept won the Grand Prize and I filed a patent on the concept.

Senior Information Developer

In this role I interacted with SMEs world-wide, provided training, managed translations, and maintained technical documentation for the Johnson Controls Fire safety range. Products included thermal imagery enabled headsets, communication units, and breathing apparatus for Firefighters and Military Personnel. I also presented on-site demonstrations to internal and external clients.

Notable projects:

- Illustrated instructions: I defined a unique illustration style and a company-wide style guide based on it.

- Animated instructional videos: I created and published animated CAD videos that are used to train service engineers. This was a first from our department and received very positive feedback. 

- Converting content to DITA: As part of a content redesign project, I conducted research on converting multiple content formats into a mark-down/XML DITA compliant format.
