I wrote a bestseller called 'Delete.'

But here's the chapter I wish I'd included - the one about what Dubai executives need to delete that no one talks about...

The addiction to being needed.

You check your phone at 11pm "just in case."
You're available on weekends "for emergencies."
You respond within minutes to prove you're indispensable.

I hear from some of my clients:
"If I don't respond immediately, they'll think I don't care."

No. They'll think you have boundaries.

And in this city that never sleeps, that's not weakness.
That's leadership.

The executives burning out in Dubai aren't failing because they can't keep up.
They're failing because they won't slow down.

Delete the belief that your value = your availability.

Your team doesn't need you to solve every problem.
They need you to solve the right problems.

Your clients don't need instant responses.
They need thoughtful ones.

Your family doesn't need the leftover version of you after everyone else got the best parts.
They need you present. Actually present.

And what's even more important, you need to be present with YOU.

The addiction to being needed is just fear dressed up as dedication.

Fear that if you're not essential to everything, you're essential to nothing.
Fear that boundaries equal abandonment.

But remember, when you only focus on others needs, you are actually abandoning yourself.

But what if I told you the most successful leaders in Dubai have already deleted this addiction?

They take weekends completely offline.
They delegate decisions they used to hoard.
They trust their teams to handle the "emergencies."

And their businesses? They're thriving.
Their health? Protected and nurtured.
Their relationships? Thriving.

Delete the notifications.
Delete the 24/7 availability.
Delete the hero complex.

Your addiction to being needed isn't serving anyone.
Not your team. Not your business. And definitely not you.

You walk into a meeting and feel the tension before anyone speaks.

Here's what I teach my executive clients:

Observe. Don't absorb.

Observing: "I notice my team is anxious about the deadline."
Absorbing: Taking on their anxiety as your own.

Observing: "My CFO is stressed about quarterly results."

When you observe, you maintain clarity.
When you absorb, you lose yourself.

High achievers are natural absorbers. We think taking on everyone's emotions shows we care.

But you can't lead from a place of borrowed anxiety.
You can't make clear decisions through someone else's fear.
You can't be present for your family while carrying your team's stress.

Practice this today:

When someone brings you their stress, pause.
Notice it. Name it. But don't take it.

"I see you're worried about this. How can I help?"
Not: "Now I'm worried too."

Your emotional boundaries are healthy limits that will help you and your team stay calm under pressure.
It all starts with you.

Boundaries let compassion through and keep other people's chaos out.

Have you ever experienced parental guilt?

Most female executives I coach live in constant guilt and I used to feel guilty all the time too.

Guilty when I was at work thinking about the kids.
Guilty when I was with the kids thinking about work.
Guilty for wanting more from my career.

A founder last week reminded me of my journey:

"I feel like I'm failing everywhere, all the time."

Here's what guilt really is:

Guilt is the gap between who you think you should be and who you actually are.

But here's the problem - that "should be" version? She doesn't exist.

She's a fantasy created by:

- Social media's highlight reels
- Your mother's expectations
- Society's impossible standards
- Your own perfectionism

The female executives thriving in Dubai have learned something crucial:

You can't be a perfect mother AND a perfect executive.
You'll be an imperfect human doing both.

And that's enough.

Actually, it's more than enough.

Your kids don't need a perfect mother.
They need a real one.

One who shows them what it looks like to have ambition.
Who demonstrates that women can build empires.
Who teaches them boundaries by having her own.
Who models self-care by practicing it.

The guilt you're carrying?

It's not protecting your children.
It's not making you a better leader.
It's just exhausting you.

Here's what I tell every mother in my office:

Your children are learning from WHO you are, not what you do for them.

They're watching you choose.
They're learning what matters.
They're seeing what's possible.

Stop apologizing for your ambition.
Stop shrinking your dreams to fit others' comfort.
Stop believing that sacrifice equals love.

Your guilt is not a badge of good motherhood.
It's a prison you've built yourself.

Stop being in relationship with your guilt and start being in relationship with yourself and your kids.

What would you do differently if guilt wasn't running the show?

Once a Dubai founder broke down in my office.

Not because their business was failing.

Because their 12-year-old daughter asked: "Why do you always look sad?"

This is what happens when we confuse net worth with self-worth.

They had everything Dubai promises:
The villas. The cars. The exits.
The LinkedIn posts celebrating the "journey."

But behind the success story?

A person who couldn't remember the last time they felt joy.
A parent whose children see as a stranger.
A human being who built an empire but lost themselves.

"I came from nothing and had to prove that I can do it ....
"Now I don't even know who I'm proving it to anymore."
