Serving as a leader is similar to learning how to balance on a paddleboard. Starting on the shore, you learn where to stand on the board, how the paddles work, and the impact of your weight and subtle movements before taking the board to the water. Once in the water, you begin on your knees to get a feel for the board. Gradually, you stand up on the board, breaking through the initial discomfort or fear of falling and failing. You will fall off, you will make wrong turns, all while also seeing a lot of beauty and getting a lot of things right.
