You can tell a leader from a bully by how they act when someone disagrees with them.

Do they get defensive,
Shut the person down,
And belittle their point?

Listen to understand,
And really consider the feedback?

Only the second one builds high-performing teams.

Most people think they know what strategy is. They don’t. Let me explain. I hope you will find it helpful. 

I’ve noticed a widespread misunderstanding about what strategy really is. When I talk about brand strategy, many people think I’m talking about visual identity, messaging and storytelling. But that’s Branding= parts of the execution of the brand strategy.

When we discuss go-to-market strategy, people often assume it’s just about tactical marketing communication like social posts, ads, or promotions. But that’s Marketing communication- the execution of the Market strategy. 

So, what’s the difference?

✅ Strategy is the foundation.
It’s the highest-level thinking that defines who we are, what we stand for, who we serve, and how we are different. It’s our direction, our compass. In brand strategy, this means our identity, purpose, positioning, and promise.

✅ Execution is the action, the activation of the strategy. 
It’s how we bring that strategy to life- through branding, marketing, and customer experience.

Building a brand without a strategy is like building on sand. It might feel good at first because you can measure the activities, but the long-term results will be inconsistent at best.

Legal: "Define fast. Fast compared to what? Over what time period? Under what conditions? What if someone has slow internet? What if they're using Internet Explorer from 2003?"

PMM: "Okay... how about 'Our customers love us'"

Legal: "Which customers? All customers? Do you have documented proof that 100% of customers experience the emotion of love toward our software? What's our legal definition of love here?"

PMM: "Fine. 'Try our free trial'"

Legal: "Free for how long? What are the terms? What happens after the trial? Are there any hidden costs? What if they exceed usage limits? What if there's a leap year?"

PMM: "Jesus. Can we at least say 'Click here'?"

Legal: "Where is 'here' exactly? What if they're using a screen reader? What if they're on mobile? What if they click somewhere else by accident? Are we liable for misclicks?"

PMM: "...What CAN we say?"

Legal: "How about: 'This may or may not be a product that could potentially provide value under certain circumstances, subject to terms and conditions, your mileage may vary, not available in all states, void where prohibited, consult your doctor before use.'"

6 Copywriting Hacks to Write High-Converting Copy

1. Use Comparisons

People wonder how you're better than your competitors. 
Don't be afraid to tell them the truth. 
Highlight how your product is faster, better, and cheaper than what's already out there.

2. Reframe Your Price

Don't just state your product's price. 
Reframe it with comparisons. Instead of "$9/month," say "Less than 3 lattes/month." 
This makes your product seem cheaper.

3. Add Graphic Elements

No one wants to read plain text. 
Add graphic elements to your copy: images, graphs, colors, illustrations, and bolded, italicized, and underlined words. 
This creates engaging copy.

4. Use Better Testimonials

The best testimonials include a before, a transformation, and an after. 
Ask customers for testimonials following this pattern, then include them in your copy.

5. Use Raw Data

Don't round up numbers to make them look bigger. 
If 89% of customers prefer your product, say 89%, not 90%. 
If you're 2nd in the market, say 2nd, not 1st. If your product is 97% effective, say 97%. 
Raw numbers are better than rounded ones.

6. Stop Being Boring

Don't just sell to people, entertain them. 
Tell stories, joke around, show personality, and write like you talk. Entertaining copy is profitable copy.
