With Intelligence

With Intelligence is an international business information organisation, focused on the asset management industry. My typical duties involved; drafting numerous subscription driven email campaigns, writing UX copy for the relaunch/integration of With Intelligence’s numerous sub brands, drafting a Content System/product copy 'bible', producing short, pithy cases studies to showcase the company's offerings, drafting web copy for the firm’s numerous events targeting C-suite audiences, plus ad hoc proofing and editing of varied output.

In November 2019, I began a new, full-time role as a content specialist for free2, a FinTech enterprise, which was focused on providing financial services solutions (such as specialised loans) for the over 55s. Unfortunately, as happens with start-ups, especially during pandemics, they had to rethink their strategy, and I finished working for them full-time, in January 2021. (I did continue with them on an ad-hoc freelance basis for much of 2021.)

Content Specialist

Self-Employed

From late 2018-late 2019, I spent time both as a freelancer and on personal projects, including a significant period of overseas travel for family reasons. 
During April, May and June of 2019, I was a regular freelance *Content Editor at Like Digital*, an award-winning digital agency in central London. In addition, my other freelance projects included: 
- Writing a treatment for a TV programme for a Czech-based production company; 
- Writing a series of online blogs for a broadcast equipment rental company; 
- Helping with the launch of a financial advisory website based in Hong Kong; 
- Drafting various case studies/award entries for a Big Four accountancy firm; and, 
- Proofreading a comic novel prior to its publication. 
I also volunteered to assist with the launch of a community radio station in Hampshire (Shine Radio).

Freelance Copywriter / Content Editor

Deloitte, London

My role was to write new copy and copy-edit materials for Deloitte's UK and Swiss offices, and occasionally for other Deloitte member firms (in the US, etc). Typical duties involved any of the following: 

- Copy-editing case studies and brochures; 
- Distilling the firm’s market propositions into compelling top-line web/press copy; 
- Writing and conception of engaging advertisements for the Economist, the FT, local press, poster sites, and trade newspapers and magazines; 
- Assisting/advising on the drafting of bids, especially Exec Summaries; and 
- Proofreading/QA of Creative Studio output. 

Other duties included dealing with the day-to-day through-put of studio projects by the team's art workers in Hyderabad, and assisting with other varied ad-hoc writing projects, such as managing freelance writers.

During this period, I was something of a 'Jack of all Trades' in marketing communications copywriting. My experience included roles at the following organisations:

TMP Worldwide

At TMP Worldwide's Bristol office, I wrote numerous press advertisements for leading corporate and public sector clients, and also drafted many recruitment listings for www.monster.co.uk 
(TMP Worldwide were the founders, and at that time owners, of www.monster.com).

Advertising Copywriter

Radio - various radio stations in The UK and New Zealand

Prior to working in UK advertising/marketing communications agencies/in-house marcoms dept.s, 
I used to work as a broadcast copywriter/voice-over/announcer. 
My first professional roles were in my homeland of New Zealand - regional top-40 station KCC-FM, metropolitan rock station Radio Hauraki, and national talk-back station Radio Pacific, 1990-97. 
In NZ, I forged a tandem career as a successful freelance TV/Radio character voice-over. I also worked briefly in television as the writer of prime-time TV quiz show; 'Face the Music' (1992). 
Upon arrival in the UK, I worked for TNT Magazine's radio station as part of their provisional London FM licence application (1997). I then joined the GWR Group (now GCAP Media), as a copywriter, working at GWR-FM in Bristol and Mercia-FM in Warwickshire, 1998-99. 
After a period of European travelling and guidebook writing ('Bucharest In Your Pocket', 1999), a change of career resulted in a move to writing for advertising and marketing communications agencies/entities (as above).
