Responsibility for the management of technical matters with retail customers. Worked directly with Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and processors and wholesalers, also covering Aldi, Morrisons, and COOP for a full year (whilst gaining business in 3 fronts).

Mack

Technical responsibility for the grapes category for all customers. Assumed leadership of a team of 2 people taking control of most technical administration tasks and documentation within MACK and some within MMG Citrus.

Senior Technologist

Ensured quality, compliance and safety was delivered for all customers, maintained supplier and source team relationships, travelled to source to audit suppliers and packhouses. Risk assessment, due diligence, specifications, pesticide management, and top level quality management for grapes at Paddock Wood. Relationship management with external parties and customers and in particular with Sainsbury’s.

Technologist

Tesco

I was the UK Technical Manager for Bananas, Citrus and Grapes, my responsibilities included: customer complaints, trending and feedback, innovation, packaging, product specifications, strategic planning, benchmarking, due diligence and liaison with suppliers and Tesco GFS. As part of my role I visited stores and depots regularly and worked closely with buyers. The most important part of my job was looking after intrinsic quality of the products in store for Tesco's customers.

Technical Manager

Dole Fresh UK

I lead the pineapple supply chain team, managing the procurement of fruit for retail, fresh service and processing accounts, working with suppliers and customers to deliver the best possible product.

Demand Chain Manager

I was the Technical Manager for pineapples, responsible for making and strengthening customer relationships, managing suppliers and due diligence. Customers included both retailers and processors. I had direct responsibility for the quality and specifications of the product as well as development projects. I also had technical responsibility over citrus and grapes.

I managed several projects to drive technical innovation across all produce divisions of the company. My role involved the day to day running of these projects, planning and supervising experiments, working with produce technologists and assisting technical managers, securing external funding for cooperative research and communicating with clients, research institutes and universities.

Innovation Technologist

Newcastle University

I planned, managed, organised and ran a Knowledge Transfer Partnership project (KTP), the main aim of which was to test and introduce a new postharvest technology to Mack Multiples. This position involved liaison with different suppliers of Mack, working within Mack’s technical team, presentation of results to industry and academia, plus collaboration with other universities. With over 15 years of experience in the fresh produce supply chain, I am a strategic technical leader and a fruit expert who is passionate about people, quality, science, and the environment. I am the CEO and cofounder of a company that aims to revolutionize the fruit industry with innovative solutions and technologies. 

I have a BSc in Agronomy and a Diploma in Food Supply Chain Quality Systems Management, as well as extensive knowledge of plant physiology, agronomy, food safety, and post-harvest science. I am fluent in English and Spanish, and a power user of Excel with some basic programming skills. I have traveled all over the world representing customers and suppliers in audits, visits, and negotiations, and presenting in conferences to large audiences in industry and academia. I empower and nurture my teams to make their own decisions and create their own personal development plans, and I strive to make a positive impact on the world through my work.
