From a mandarin-speaking International Student to a Winner of the Top 100 Women Award: as the Founder of Multilingual Connectors, I mentor and guide non-native English speakers to maximize their unique advantages so that they can master networking and build deep connections across cultures to unlock opportunities and career outcomes. From a shy Chinese candidate to a multi-award-winning young achiever in male-dominated industries, Daisy Wu was a final entrant in the National Association of Women In Construction (NAWIC) Awards for Excellence. A hallmark of her achievement orientation, she received the Australian Institute of Building’s AIB VIC Chapter Medal, Leaders in Communities Award, and merit-based scholarships from the University of Melbourne where she holds a Master of Construction Management and Bachelor of Design. During her presidency at the Construction Students Association, she co-founded the Internet of Things in Built Environments Competition which was awarded the 'Best Joint Event of the Year - 2nd Place' at her university and connected the attendees to leading AEC firms. As the Podcast Lead of the Chartered Institute of Building's CIOB Tomorrow's Leaders Victoria, she was instrumental to the 28 episodes featuring a myriad of built environment professionals from 4 continents. A Quantity Surveyor at WT (Australia & New Zealand), Daisy strives to become a well-versed Cost Manager alongside industry leaders delivering value on challenging and iconic projects. She is also an asset to WT's Embodied Carbon Cost Management services to improve the environmental performance of building projects at optimum financial values. Emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic, Daisy is expanding her career and community leadership in a multicultural society: working on landmark construction projects, teaching at a top-ranked university, and speaking for prominent organisations, most recently TEDx Unimelb, AIB, CIOB, Resilient Leadership Academy and the Construction Coach.
