I was accidentally yet literally born into Startup Land. I was related to and knew more founders from childhood than most do in a lifetime. It’s why I know all founders are the same. And all founders are different. They don’t know it until they start their for profit biz or non profit organization. Or both! More than 80% will fail. Without help. Less than 20% will survive. With help. And be able to accept + achieve 85% perfection. I experienced my parent’s failure + success in business. I grew up an entrepreneur’s + preacher’s kid. I worked in the family business. And I learned to be an antagonistic employee, asking my organizations to be the people they say they are. I didn’t know how or when to stop working because I never saw my parents slow down. Burnout wasn’t a word then. Regular self care served our baselines. Life + living and helping others was the daily mission. I’ve worked in + on the “business of helping people” across sectors and industries to become better, faster, smarter leaders + teams my whole life. For 20+ years, I’ve helped hundreds of founders across industries and countries find their purpose, create their missions, and achieve their dreams. I've founded + developed my own organizations, with some still growing 25 years later. In Kosovo, I helped leaders there declare their independence in 2008 with daily coaching, advice, and support + feedback, helping them navigate rules and international standards to prove democracy and sustainability. In Baltimore, I helped the offshore wind industry’s “chamber of commerce” during peak COVID to develop, grow, and scale America’s next renewable energy source, which will ultimately create millions of jobs and lessen our dependence on fossil fuels. In Washington, D.C., I helped visionaries lead fundraising efforts raising more than $70M to design, develop, build, and dedicate the U.S. WWI Memorial, commemorating forgotten soldiers and citizens fighting and dying for their country + democracy.
