- Leadership role of the parent organisation at Group level and work closely with the Two Tails Productions management team to help shape the business.   
- Provide executive leadership and strategic input to the business.

- Providing marketing, branding and general business advice to the Helmsmen founders.  
- Supporting on the development of the brand platform and marketing plans.

Account Director working across a number of key agency accounts including BISSELL Homecare, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Clifford Chance and First Great Western.

A Board-level marketing communications professional with over 25 years agency side experience, as well non-exec experience supporting a number of start-up companies in a range of sectors. 

This includes over 15 years on my current agency’s Board and over 7 years in an ownership capacity, following management buy-out. 

Expertise includes senior level company management, client service, business development, and brand and campaign strategy.  

Vast experience across internal communications, brand strategy and development, advertising and live events.

Very much enjoyed our visit to Meta’s London office in King’s Cross yesterday. 

Great meeting and managed to dodge the rain so I didn’t even need to spend the whole time drying out!

3 greats days out in Amsterdam. Really productive conversations…and a chance to think and take stock whilst being away from the desk. 

Getting out and about to see our customers in person - and in some cases meet for the first time - is always so rewarding.

Just on my way out to Amsterdam for a few days to meet some clients at Philips, LIPTON Teas and Infusions  and The Magnum Ice Cream Company. Flying out from London Gatwick - my local favourite and another of our lovely clients. 

Looking forward to spending some productive time out in ‘The Venice of the North’ as it is colloquially referred to apparently 🤷‍♂️. And - to continue my trend this year of providing a running commentary on the weather - it is set fair ☀️☀️☀️. Thank goodness for that. 

Plus, this time I am not travelling solo. It’s Batman and Robin time - let’s go Andrew Pamphilon! ✈️

Right, ‘Spoons anyone?

It’s not often that I get the time to meet up with other agency owners and leaders, but today I had the chance to attend the Agency Folk Spring Gathering at The British Library and it reminded me of how beneficial these events can be.

Meeting peers that are on the journey, sharing hacks and tips, listening to stories and experiences, getting a barometer on the agency landscape, and hearing about growth strategies and exit plans. A kind of business therapy session in these challenging times. 
 
There were too many great points to list here, raised over a number of brilliant lightning talks, but Zoë Elizabeth Blogg’s excellent presentation on Decision Debt particularly resonated with me as well as Jess Phillips’ perspective on Longevity over Leaving (loved “Motivation is driven by micro-moments”). 

And of course the ever impressive Trenton Moss 👋 sharing his advice around the power of shaping the RIGHT advisory board for your business (his slide below not depicting that!). Plus I loved your one liner at the end about having the right people on the bus - “Always better to have a hole than an a@*hole”. Stealing that one 🤣

Finally, thank you Michael Murdoch - as ever - for making this all happen.

Today is Employee Appreciation Day. 

Whilst in truth (and like many of these ‘Days’) appreciation should not be limited to one moment, it is a good opportunity to take stock and genuinely be thankful for my amazing colleagues.

I am biased obviously, but I work with a bunch of brilliant people at MGA Group and Two Tails Productions. People that always go above and beyond, push boundaries and go the extra mile (and many other idioms!) for our clients. People that look out for one another and really care about our business. 

So if I don’t say thank you enough, today is a moment to do that. You are all rock stars 🌟.
