Business has always been a part of my life. Growing up, I watched my parents work as business owners and learned from their successes and failures. Those experiences spurred my love of business, my understanding of teamwork, and my passion for automation and technology. Studying computer science in college, I was eager to start a career in technology. Several years into my career, I was hungry for more. That’s when I started living a dual life: employee by day, small business owner by night. My CEO moonlighting challenges taught me many lessons, including trial and error approaches, the power of teams, and the importance of a determination to succeed. I also learned valuable lessons only learned by making tough decisions about intentional business growth, maintaining the flexibility to achieve goals, and the importance of customer relationships. Pursuing my master of business administration degree reinforced my business acumen and gave me new approaches to realizing outcomes. I now understand the benefits of improving processes, aligning efforts, and facilitating programs that encourage everyone to contribute. What’s the best part of guiding teams and technology? Remaining flexible. I have learned that even with vast experience technology can quickly change or someone else may be able to show me a better way….and that’s the thrill of business.
