Kramer & Son Egg Co Inc.

Started out as a route driver delivering eggs & poultry throughout Indiana, Kentucky, & Illinois right out of high school.  Then I moved on to OTR driving & eventually running the transportation dept.  The owner of this company, Glenn Kramer along with his mother, Ruth (Mrs Kramer) was very influential in my career & life.  I miss & think of them often.

Highway & food safety, cleanliness, correct temperature, and punctuality are paramount to me.   

In 1981 when I was 19 years old I wanted to drive a tractor trailer.  No one would hire me due to my young age.  So I bought my first truck for $2000, rented a 40ft van trailer & went wildcatting.  That was over 6 million miles ago.  During this time I've held various positions such as Transportation Mgr for Kramer & Son Egg Co in Boonville IN in 1984 & 1985.  In 1997 I was a heavy duty truck salesman for Joe Hotze Ford in Salem IL.  This gave me valuable insight into specing  equipment plus I learned valuable negotiating skills.  From 1992 to 1994 I worked in warehousing for Morton Avenue Warehouse in Evansville IN which gave me valuable insight into warehousing.  I held these other positions while owning 1 to 5 trucks of my own where I was responsible for maintenance, compliance & the management of Drivers.  Since 2000 it has been just me with one truck & trailer.  I feel that this has been the most successful period in my career.  But I'm open minded & always looking for the next challenge.

So they’re truckin a 4 dropper with me.   They won’t help unload, and they wanna stop at ever dog park that they see a sign for.  PLUS!; they’re bed hogs!

“Road Tested”

Yesterday was a long day!

I started in Valdosta and drove home.  Then when I got home, I changed the oil and rotated the steer tires.  It turned into a 15 hour day. 
That’s just part of being an owner operator.  

I’m having some coffee on my porch.  The Roeboat will be out of the water and on the trailer sometime this weekend.  
The summer has flown by. 

Next week Melissa will be moving back to Florida, for winter to continue her cancer treatments at Moffitt Cancer Center.  She has been fighting cancer for 3 years. It’s tough but she’s still here.  She’s a tough woman. But she’s had to be. After all she’s been putting up with me for 38 years now.  I hope that we get several more years together.

Last Sunday boat ride of the season. 
Where does the time go?

Good afternoon from French island!

Its been said;
“A man who represents himself has a fool for a client.”

However every time that I have to go to court, when I contact the Lawyers they always say; It’s gonna cost you a gazzillion dollars, and it doesn’t look good for you.  

So I always represent myself.  
This past week was no exception. 
The stakes were kinda high on this one, and I was kinda nervous BUT, my 100% success rate is still intact. 

Watching those Perry Mason reruns has really paid off!
