From my first high school graphics class, I knew design was my calling. Encouraged by a teacher who saw my potential, I pursued a Graphic Design degree at RMIT University, determined to grow my craft and one day build my own business. My career began under the mentorship of Warwick Cruise, one of Melbourne’s top designers. He instilled in me a deep appreciation for typography, craftsmanship, and the business of design, inspiring my dream to establish my own agency. Seeking broader challenges, I joined a publishing company, where I reimagined their scuba diving magazine— featuring contributors like the great oceanographer Jean Michel Cousteau — into a more contemporary and engaging publication, boosting ad revenue in the process. From there, I worked with leading design, advertising, and production agencies, including M&C Saatchi, Dewey & Horton, and Wellcom Group Worldwide. These experiences exposed me to large-scale, integrated campaigns for brands like ANZ Bank, Jetstar Airways, Emirates, Cricket Australia, Toyota, Priceline Pharmacy, Grand Prix Corporation and Pacific Brands. Each role offered invaluable insights into both the potential and limitations of traditional agencies, planting the seeds for my entrepreneurial journey. In 2007, I launched Kandan Media, bridging the gap between advertising and design. Within two years, it grew into a seven-figure business, collaborating with some of the world’s top brands. Despite its success, I felt compelled to create something even more transformative — something that integrated design, advertising and marketing seamlessly. This vision became reality in 2017 with the founding of The Bureau. Our mission is to help ambitious businesses dominate their markets through a unique framework that unites identity and design, advertising and communications as well as sales and marketing. Over the years, we’ve partnered with clients like Drapac Pro Cycling, Gami Chicken, and CampaignAgent, driving growth and delivering tangible results through impactful and efficient strategies. At my core, I’m driven by creativity, collaboration, and the belief that great design and strategy can transform businesses and lives. When I’m not working, I’m a proud father of three daughters, an avid snowboarder who seizes any chance to heli-ski and love spending time with my family and friends.
