I’m calling you out today!

I bet you a Mars bar that you do/have done one of these things below….


👉🏼 Hide when you hear an unexpected knock at the door and find your way to a window like you’re crawling over laser beams to see who is there. 

👉🏼 Talk to pets or objects like they’re going to respond and enjoy the conversation. FYI my plants don’t listen to me…they always die of boredom.

👉🏼 Pull out your phone to avoid eye contact with someone and not get into a conversation. Then when they approach you, you say ‘gosh sorry, I was in a world of my own, didn’t see you there!’.

👉🏼 Open the fridge numerous times when you can’t find anything to eat…because y’know, something you fancy might just appear.

👉🏼 Google symptoms when you’re poorly and convince yourself you have the worst possible condition and there’s no coming back from it.

👉🏼 Check your phone for the time then immediately have to pick it up and check again because you forgot and you were too busy looking at your phone wallpaper.

👉🏼 Turn the volume down in the car just so you can see better when you’re lost or looking for an address. Definitely works. 

👉🏼 Wave back at someone who was actually waving at the person behind you then try to disguise it with a head scratch. 

👉🏼 Avoid stepping on cracks in the pavement and never walking over three grids because it’s just not right and something bad may happen. 

👉🏼 Blow on hot food then eat it immediately and act shocked when it burns your mouth. 

👉🏼 Use your feet to pick things up from the floor. No? Just me?

Running a business has given me trust issues that I never had before. 

I trusted very easily. 
I saw the good in everyone. 
I like to see people happy. 
I’m a giver. 

I’m extremely grateful for this platform and for social media in general. 
It’s truly changed my life. 

But it’s also taught me to ‘toughen up’ a little and affirm boundaries. 

- I’ve had clients not pay and then completely ghost me (only two, one very recently and they ironically educate people about being savvy with money). 

🟢 This has encouraged me to clamp down on my ‘no payment, no services’ rule. 

- I’ve had people say they’re going to do something and they then do the complete opposite. 

🟢 I take most things with a pinch of salt and don’t rely heavily on the outcome. 

- I’ve had people befriend me who are actually just after something, not friendship at all. 

🟢 I’m so good at sniffing these out now and I don’t ‘give’ as much too soon. 

- I’ve had people befriend my friends and try to ‘scope me out’. 

🟢 I mean this is just stupid. It’s glaringly obvious and quite embarrassing. 

- I see people who educate about certain topics and claim to have certain values…but actually don’t.

🟢 This encourages me even more so to ensure that I’m ‘me’ and true to myself. 

- I’ve had people work their way into my circle of trust, take what they need and then go on their merry little way. 

🟢 I see you. I’ll class it as flattery and move on. 

Please treat others how you’d like to be treated yourself as they do become wise to your motives in the end. 

Those I do trust, they don’t realise how special they are. ❤️

We’re all here to make a living but let’s do it in a moral way and by being true to ourselves. 

Have you developed a few trust issues since entering the world of business ?

Today I will face visiting somewhere filled with painful memories.

Don’t get me wrong, I have wonderful memories too but the painful ones take over in my brain.

January 2022, I thought I was having a heart attack.
I begged to be taken to hospital.
I couldn’t breathe and everything was spinning.
Cue over 3 months off work trying to regulate my breathing. 

A panic attack. That’s it. That’s all. 
Pure stress and worry. 

It’s not surprising really after enduring weekly hemiplegic migraines, admittance to hospital with respiratory issues, unexplained passing out and palpitations. 

I have some wonderful memories of school but I also have some absolutely awful ones.

Today I feel ready to face these awful ones head on. 

I’ve cancelled 3 times but today it is happening. 

I feel emotionally ready and resilient. 

I have a sense of curiosity as to how I’ll feel when I’m there but I’m aiming to feel a sense of accomplishment and closure after moving on to a better place in my life. 

NOBODY will bring me down, no matter how long it takes me to recover and heal. ❤️

Things change fast and I feel it’s important to be open about the downsides as well as the successes.

On Wednesday I posted about being near to capacity and on target in reaching my end goal. 

Today is Friday and I’m a lot further away from that target. 

Am I stressing about it ? No
Am I panicking? No

Am I a bit ‘brace yourself, here we go again!’
-  Yes 😂

6 months ago I would have cried.
6 months ago I would have lost sleep.
6 months ago the anxiety would be awful.

But this is business, right?
This is how the VA world works. 

Partly the reason that business number 2 is on its way. I’d like some more security tbh.

People mainly stop using our services because they are ready for an employee or things haven’t gone so well in their own business and they need to claw back some pennies. 

I get that. Totally 💯 

And then we have a rogue one that doesn’t pay us but that’s another story. 🙄 

Moral of this post?

To remind everyone that things can change quickly. 

Be prepared for times like this.

Ever been on a business retreat for 1?

Last week, I was feeling the noise of the hustle and bustle.

As much as I love being with the family at home, things can get veryyyyy busy!

I was seeking;

Stillness 
Quietness
Calmness

So I tied in a networking meet with an overnight stay and worked non stop.

Writing
Admin
Tying up loose ends 

The only thing I didn’t get done were my DMs (that’s a this week job!)

A Me, Myself and I retreat and I bloomin’ loved it (if you’re not singing Beyoncé right now, we can’t be friends). 

I also had copious amount of snacks. 😵‍💫

Have you ever been away by yourself to catch up ?

Oi you ! 📣 

You! The one that’s been thinking about getting a little bit of support for a while. 

I’ve got news for you….

We have ONE spot left at SpaceTime and then we are FULL for now. 

❌ No room at the inn.
❌ Stuffed.
❌ Full as an egg.
❌ Jam packed.
❌ Bulging. 
❌ Chock a block !

My plan is to onboard one more social media VA and one more systems/admin VA very soon and then we’re DONE.

I suffer with hemiplegic migraines. This is me after being floored for the last day and a half.

Today I am feeling a lot better (still no feeling in my left hand though!) and ready for a weekend of rest. Yes my weekend starts this morning. 


🆘 I know my triggers and can usually control them, working through with a migraine. 

🆘 I also know when it’s time to stop and do nothing (very rarely). 

🆘 I knew I’d end up with one of these migraines and it was my fault for pushing it and packing too much in over this last week. 
We live and learn….

The first time I’ve had to downtools in business. 

Everybody has their own 💩 going on but the ability to know your own body and mind is powerful and can be extremely useful. Set yourself boundaries and listen to your body/head. 

Working 8am - 11pm whilst teaching gave me this weakness, hence why I’ve made positive changes and now work from home. Sometimes I do work until silly hours…but because I want to and feel well enough to do so, not because I HAVE to. 

✅ Set yourself goals.
✅ Talk to people.
✅ Find that courage to make changes.
✅ Surround yourself with a positive network.

You have the power to change your life at any given moment - never forget that 💕

I’m so protective over my time these days, because I CAN be. I’m in control…but I let that slip this week.

‘Your business is your baby’ isn’t just a saying to be fair…

First comes the pain we felt when we brought it into the world. The heavy breathing, the pushing and the screaming whilst we head towards/try to keep that due (launch) date.

Next come the sleepless nights where you stare at it all and you can’t believe it’s actually yours. How are you going to keep this new baby going and see to its every need?

We nurture it as it grows, ensuring that we are there for the ups and downs. What does it need? Why isn’t this working? Why isn’t that working? Trial, error and reading online what has worked for others.

We then teach it new things as we help it to become more independent in life. Automations, systems and processes implemented whilst we give it the tools to stand on its own two feet. 

As it grows up, nourish it and add in the right fuel to ensure it develops healthily. Push through the terrible twos and listen to the advice of people who have been there themselves. 

The sleepless nights will be worth it. If it needs something and it’s preventing sleep, it may serve you well to get up and do it or just note it down to put your mind at rest. 

It doesn’t matter when your business first ‘sits up’ or when it takes its ‘first steps’. We all hit milestones at different points and that’s normal. Do what’s right for you and your baby. 

Don’t struggle with letting your baby go off on its own when they’re old enough. Be proud of everything you’ve put into it and watch it run like a well oiled machine. 

Trust other people to babysit.
We are trusted to look after your babies daily and we treat them with the same love and care that you do. ❤️

3 weeks before the little darlings are at home for 6 weeks. 

Are we ready for this? 💥 

I know I am. 
Last year I worked all the way through and even dealt with work ‘issues’ whilst abroad with the family. 

Not this year.
The guilt I felt was horrid 😞 

I have to remember why I became a VA in the first place.

My plan….

Two whole weeks off mid Aug. 
Like really off. Totally unavailable. 

Off every Friday (norm)

Working day will look something like this; 

7-10.30am
4-5pm
8pm  - 10pm

I will never get this time back so I’m protecting it at all costs.❤️

Oh and guess what?
We have capacity for a couple more clients and most  team members work all through the Summer hols so BAU.

1 month to go until the new business launches. Just putting that out there 😉

Our onboarding process is smoother than butter on a hot pancake tbf 🥞 

It goes a little something like this…

🗣️ Conversation in the DMs to get an idea of support needed. This may simply be just emails’ or ‘socials’. That enables me to look at capacity and see if we are able to accommodate. 

📞 Call takes place. I talk about our setup and how we work, potential client talks about things they’d like to outsource OR we figure out together what could be outsourced first and how. Some people don’t know and that’s fine too. We decide how many hours a month would be needed/fit into budget and which team member would be suitable (if we have capacity)  to work with. I usually tell people all about the team member and give them a good insight into what they are like. 

💭 Potential client decides if they’d like to go ahead. If not, that’s absolutely cool. Another business may be a better fit or they may not feel ready. I decide if the potential client is a good fit for us too. If so, we start the onboarding process. Some people request a 10 minute meet and greet with their team member they would be working with. The business absorbs this cost as I totally get it, it can be a big thing. 

✍️ The lovely Hollie reaches out to the new client and asks for some basic details to go on the contract. Contract is drawn up and sent over for signing. 

💰 Once the contract is signed, I send over an invoice which is to be settled by the start date and a meeting is scheduled in between new client and VA. 

Start date comes and they’re away! Wheeee! 

I reach out after a few weeks and check that the client is happy with everything and reassure them that any feedback is most welcome. I also ensure from the start that the team member is happy with the new partnership. 

EASY, right? 

If you’ve been thinking of hiring a VA, I hope this helps. We’re with you every step of the way, we make it easy and we’re used to hand holding/providing reassurance if you’re feeling nervous. 

If you’re thinking of growing a team, I hope this helps too as it shows that my role consists of taking the call and sending an email after a few weeks to check in. Onboarding doesn’t have to be a headache ❤️
