When I was a kid, I fell in love with design. When the monthly National Geographic magazine arrived, I would carefully remove each of the folded maps and infographics and plaster them all over my bedroom walls so I could stare at them until the next issue hit the mailbox. I carried my love for design into adolescence when I taught myself photography, graphic design, and HTML. Upon landing my first client at 16 years old, I learned how to listen to people and their goals for their business. My first commissioned website, designed for a Canadian record store that specialized in obscure and rare vinyl, was a solution to a problem. Building an effective branded environment included collaborating with an interior design firm, packaging sourcing, and creating all the assets to ensure her business was memorable and accessible to her key demographics. Another great project was helping a non-profit streamline their web experience for both members and administrators. This required thoughtful planning and coordination with key members of the team to facilitate an improved membership signup process, access to members-only materials, and more search engine visibility.
