Providing business training and finance transformation consulting, project management and Agile team coaching services. I’m delivery agnostic (Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, XP, Lean etc.), but with an Agile mindset and a preference for customising delivery methods to specific business contexts. 

Blending business, finance, digital and interpersonal skills I enjoy a rare ability for delivering soft skills training, communication and guidance to technical talents who are highly skilled at building digital solutions, but struggle when interacting with analogue business people.

During the pandemic I completed a Full Stack software development course supplemented with with Big Data as I sought to build upon my existing coding skills and knowledge currently limited to SQL and VBA. 

Languages I’m applying include HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL and Python with agile software development frameworks and methods e.g. Bootstrap, Flask, Django, UCD, TDD, CI/CD, testing automation, distributed version control and pair programming. 

Key use cases include designing and building user interfaces, apps, API’s and databases for automating, integrating and scaling robust digital solutions e.g. financial dashboards and self-service business analytics.

Ford Credit

Ford Credit Europe UK (FCE UK) is Ford’s PRA regulated Banking & Financial Services division. I was recruited as a Finance change manager for the Accounting Centre of Excellence (ACE) driving the delivery of strategic and transformational change programme providing leadership and strategic direction to assigned projects. 

Starting small and tactical it evolved from a cost cutting project to a Finance transformation programme as I was the only Project Manager on Ford's global portfolio with responsibility for multiple large projects running in parallel, my key achievements include:
 
☛Delivered $5.1m net total operational Accounting cost savings p.a. across Europe via low cost outsourcing accounting work to Ford’s captive SSO in India plus process standardisation/automation at scale 
☛Successfully project managed multiple finance systems launches (AR and billings system, AP / P2P, Expenses, Interco, and payment automation), harmonising Finance systems portfolio across EU to realise overall project cost savings ($635k and BAU $440k/p.a.).
☛Eliminated IT total cost of ownership (TCO) by eliminating and replacing 3 local legacy applications ($360k p.a. licensing / server maintenance plus $120K p.a. IT support) covering Belgium, Netherlands, France, Italy and Germany.
☛Product Owner on agile project delivering 23 bespoke accounting automation developments within core business platform (contracts, billings and customer payments) and establishing Central Accounting Testing Team to improve IT release quality and eliminate manual journals.
☛Project managed company’s Brexit strategy for Accounting by deploying the Finance systems for 6 new legal entities in 4 locations in compliance with IFRS, US GAAPs, PRA/FCA and local regulations e.g. BaFin.

Methodologies used: Waterfall, Scrum and hybrid approaches (Leading Agile consultants).

In addition to the above role, I led the Transactional Accounting team (11 staff) for 9 months due to a gap in the management team as a result of an unplanned employee departure and long-term absence.

Ford Motor Company (Europe) is Ford’s EU regional operations. I was hired as European Treasury Accounting and UK Payroll Accounting Manager leading team of 6 FTEs within European Accounting, managing accounting for various functions including U.K. Payroll, European Treasury and 3 Dutch based holding companies (lending and tax vehicles). Key achievements include: 

☛Enhanced reporting of cash, payroll, loans and FX derivatives to achieve an increased Exec focus on $10bn of balance sheet items.
☛Fixed global intercompany imbalances between Ford group and Russia Sollers JV during the 2014 Russian financial crisis. 
☛Delivered Finance Competency training to 193 Finance staff across EU to elevate team performance.
☛Supported the timely global rollout of the IFRS Ledger Strategy project on European Payroll and Treasury accounting matters.

Accounting Manager

I moved into international assignment at Ford of Romania, building the Internal Control function (4 FTE) for a brownfield site with new product launches of vehicle (B-Max) and engine lines (Sigma Diesel and Fox Petrol). Key achievements include:

☛Identified and closed multiple control deficiencies across the company including $186m accounting items (FA’s/Payroll), $76m inventory, $4m purchasing, H&S and environmental issues plus special investigations (anti-bribery / fraud).
☛Finance lead for emergency sourcing of non-core supplier during production machinery failure. Led global emergency bailment approval ($6.5m of vendor tooling) and supported supplier negotiations (total saving $20.6m, 35% per unit price).
☛Finance lead for deployment of Ford Production Systems ‘best in class’ lean manufacturing method.
