Scottish Tech Army

The Scottish Tech Army Limited is a not for profit company and a volunteer Covid-19 technical response team that helps the Scottish Government, Local Authorities, and other organisations across the country with rapid technical development projects to address current Covid-19 related challenges, and post pandemic economic recovery. 

We are non-political and have no agenda other than wanting to help the Scottish government access the world class technical talent that we have in this country to support those on the front lines and in our communities. 

We work with the team at CivTech and the Digital Directorate of the Scottish Government; many of the requirements come from the public sector, and CivTech is coordinating digital projects across the Scottish Government.

The Scottish Government has had many offers of support from companies across Scotland and triages the results in terms of importance. The Scottish Tech Army helps with direct action on some of these projects where we feel we can make a difference.

We welcome talented Scottish technical staff, furloughed or not, to our team, with many volunteers coming from the broad range of the tech development world including software developers, project and programme managers, social media and marketing, business analysts, application deployment, operations expertise and Salesforce design and customisation skills.

Mentor

As a recruitment mentor in the RBS entrepreneur/ accelerator programme, I work closely with the companies on the programme and advise and support with any and all recruitment/ scaling plans. In my “day job” at MBN Solutions, I have successfully delivered a number of projects on behalf of clients which include advising them on budgets, timelines, talent market and strategy. I understand the challenges companies face in attracting top talent in this highly competitive market and can provide solutions to a variety of Talent Acquisition processes and challenges, budget planning/ market rates, terms of business, 3rd party supplier engagement, contracts of employment etc.  

I was keen to be a mentor in the accelerator programme as I am passionate about giving back to an industry that I am heavily involved in and have empathy for the challenges companies face with recruiting and scaling in their early years.

The Accelerator, Business Builder and Fintech Accelerator programmes have been tailored to empower entrepreneurs at any stage. It’s an amazing journey that is fully funded for any entrepreneur who wants to grow. You don’t even have to be a Royal Bank of Scotland customer.

We operate 12 hubs across the UK, providing entrepreneurs with unique coaching, environments, digital learning and networks.
