Workload was divided between Projects and Environmental.

Projects
Worked on an energy saving project throughout the year which involved preheating boiler feed water from the steam plant with available process heat on the refinery. Tasks involved investigation of possible heat sources on the refinery with sufficient duty for heating, rating available process equipment and determining what new equipment was needed and a site wide steam header rebalance. 

Environmental
Ensured the refinery was not breaching their IPPC permit through daily monitoring of CEMS (Continuous Emissions Monitoring) and weekly internal environmental audits. Gained waste management and COSHH (Control of substances hazardous to health) experience during a site-wide turnaround.

Undergraduate Process Engineer

Surveyed sellers, support staff and management to create an inventory of all equipment and software sales tools and presented the findings to senior management. Report used to budget for a major technology transformation, and provide new sellers with a list of tools required to enable them to start selling. 

Supported team members by testing the performance of new sales tools. Test results used to improve functionality prior to deployment. Gained project management expertise by shadowing the Project Managers.

Student for Tools Deployment & Projects Team

Supported Global Technology Service sellers by compiling weekly reports on the sales pipeline, using MS Excel, resulted in increased report accuracy and savings in seller time.

Student for ITS UK & Ireland

Chemical engineer/Data Scientist. Specialised in process data analytics and process development. Expert in fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer and data science for process insight. Experienced in the application of CFD, MVDA and statistical analysis to industrial processes. Software knowledge includes Ansys Fluent, OpenFOAM, JMP, minitab, SIMCA online , Discoverant, DynoChem, Reaction Lab and Aspen. Experienced user of Python and R for data analysis and visualisation.
