Darren graduated in Law/Science at Melbourne University and was later admitted to practice law in 1986 after concluding his Articles of Clerkship in Melbourne. He then worked as a Judge's Associate for 2 years, including research work for Senior Judges. 👨🏻‍🎓👨🏻‍🎓 In 1990, he was admitted to the Victorian Bar and was mentored by Judge Mason. 🏛 Darren specializes Family Law/De Facto Law, Mediations, Arbitrations and Family Violence. He has trained advocates and is a Mentor to Melbourne University Law Students. He has been the Secretary of the Family law Bar Association and served on the Chief Magistrates’ Taskforce Committee reporting to the Royal Commission on Family Violence. 🙋🏻‍♂️ He is a current member of the Vic Bar Ethics Committee. Also ADR and Health and Well-being Committees Darren has chaired Patterson's List of Barristers and has trained several Mentees. In 2019 and 2020, he was a finalist in the category of Barrister of the Year for the Australian Law Awards and Social Entrepreneur in the Third Sector Awards. Won Barrister of the Year 2022🥇 Darren is also a professional actor/producer. 🎥 His recent short films “Degree of Separation” and "TOMMY" has won international acclaim and selected for BAFTA and Academy Award Qualifying Events. Darren is a Director of a charitable foundation, “To Be Loved Network”, which produces resources to give children a voice navigating family violence and parental separation (www.tobeloved.org.au). Darren is also a passionate advocate for victims of family violence, including children and is a strong supporter of victims of abuse. In August , 2019, Darren published a book, “Tommy & Tiger Terry” helping children understand parental separation and providing a practical tool for parents, to assist them with the emotional needs of their kids. Darren has been recently appointed a Director of PACIFICA CONGRESS making a difference to children's lives with the input of specialists in the field.
