I work with senior leadership teams and boards in SMEs and Corporates on issues including team dynamics and performance, leadership in crisis, business risk management, and the strategy development & implementation process. As part of this work, I lead a module on Strategy & Innovation and deliver a masterclass on crisis leadership for the Senior Leader Apprenticeship (MBA) at the University of Exeter Business School. This academic engagement enables me to integrate practical experience, the latest organisational science, and pragmatic business practices into my client engagements. I have helped organisations develop risk management strategies and make strategic and tactical operating decisions – often under crisis – in markets including Africa and the Middle East, where the business risks are primarily political, integrity, security (including Cyber) or infrastructure based. I have a clear track record of delivery. I have set up and managed a fast growing multi-million dollar risk consulting business based in South Africa. I have built an account management and sales function for a firm across Europe, Middle East and Africa, fundamentally changing the way this company manages its clients. And throughout my career I have led real and virtual teams. My experience covers education, military, government institutions, oil and gas, mining, power, infrastructure, telecoms, financial services, FMCG, retail, professional services and public sector. Frontier markets include Southern Africa, East and Central Africa, West Africa, Central Europe, and the Middle East including Iraq & Afghanistan.
