Quello con il microfono sono io e quello in foto è Nicolas Taleb. Foto scattata ieri nella splendida Aula Baffi dell'Università di Cagliari dove su invito del carissimo amico prof. Luca Piras abbiamo parlato di criptovalute e ovviamente di Bitcoin.

Oggi più che mai, con una delle maggiori banche italiane in difficoltà per ragioni tecniche, mi sembra interessante considerare la differenza tra un sistema resiliente ed un sistema anti-fragile. 

Una banca il cui database si "corrompe" mostra il suo singolo punto di collasso. Un protocollo distribuito con governo decentralizzato come Bitcoin non potrebbe mai subire un problema del genere. La ridondanza del sistema -Bitcoin è infinita

Gli sviluppatori Ethereum hanno deciso di includere EIP-3074 nel prossimo hard fork Petra.
Tra le altre cose questo consente l'astrazione degli account in cui l'accesso ai propri asset non sarà più legato alla sola chiave privata ma introduce nuove possibilità di autenticazione e recupero in caso di smarrimento. 

Finora lo standard che ha fatto da padrone per l'astrazione è quello denominato EIP-4337, totalmente basato su smart contract e sistemi off-chain, così da non necessitare una modifica del protocollo Ethereum.

EIP-3074  invece vuole introdurre due nuovi operation code in Ethereum per autorizzare una terza parte ad effettuare transazioni per nostro conto e di raggrupparle in batches.

I due approcci sono duali, nel senso che il primo (EIP-4337) fa funzionare degli smart contract come se fossero dei wallet personali, mentre il secondo (EIP-3074) fa funzionare un wallet personale(*) come se fosse uno smart contract.

Flash loans enable users to borrow vast sums of assets without needing collateral, provided they repay the loan within the same blockchain transaction. There is not an equivalent in TradFi, as in a Flash Loan the lender lends the money only if the borrower has repaid it. In reality there is no before and after, as the two actions (borrow and repay) happen together or don't happen at all.

Given this peculiarity, the Flash Loans has been used many times to amplify the effects in an hack. Imagine the attacker knows how to steal $100 from a smart contract investing $50. Well, what if he now borrows $50 000 and does the same action again?
