Dedicated to “diverse perspectives on sustainable tourism & responsible travel ... because travel & tourism is everyone's business”, the “GT” Blog provides a platform for academics, experts, and practitioners to share insights that inspire and inform their peers. My career started in the Lion City in 1997 when the Singapore Human Resources Institute hired me as Marketing Communications Executive. I was then engaged as editor of a real estate investment magazine before co-founding a magazine publishing business. In 2001 I got on my bike (literally) and headed to Thailand. After two years' teaching English, I was appointed Editor at the Bangkok-based Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA). Having initiated many of PATA’s early forays into new media, I was quickly promoted to Assistant Director of Communications. In 2008 Nathan Associates engaged me as Knowledge Management (KM) & Communications Specialist to work on a USAID-funded ASEAN economic development project for the travel & tourism and textiles & apparel sectors. In this role I conceived and project-managed the development of web-based KM, B2B, and B2C platforms, one of which won a PATA Gold Award. Since 2010, I have freelanced as a consultant, speculated on an internet startup, travelled the Balkans region, reinvigorated a community newspaper, written white papers for blockchain projects, and dabbled in digital nomadism. I am continuously seeking meaning, purpose, and a good meal with a friend.
